Luckily it was so crowded in our cafeteria that I had gone to the 7th floor walkway to sit in the quiet to read. They called to say she was in surgery and that her spleen was bleeding some so it had to come out. It also had a large tumor. Problem is that there are other lesions and/or tumors on the surrounding tissue. He was calling to give me the option of just putting her down right then. I said no way - just take out the spleen and take samples for biopsy of the others. He said they weren't awful but they couldn't remove them. I was glad to be in a quiet hall to sit and cry a while. I guess we see what type of cancer and if any chemo may help a little bit. MP_the4pack Posted December 30, 2009 Share Posted December 30, 2009 I'm so sorry to hear this. I really REALLY hope it's different from what my Brindle had. She went in for emergency surgery at 1 Am. They opened her up and she was loaded with tumors that were bleeding. It was hemangiosarcoma. She was so bad that they just let her sleep. I hope it's not the same thing. Hoping and praying you have a lot more time with your baby. Apparently there was one other largish tumor that they removed but many small one scattered on her omentum that they could not remove. I asked about chemo and she said maybe - depends on what the biopsy shows. She said it didn't look like a typical hemangio as it was whitish and firm rather than red and bloody.
