queenwinniesmom
Oh, Audrey, I know just what you're going through. Intellectually, and realistically, you know you are doing the right thing for Asia. But we can't help it when our emotions take over---it's natural, and you are human. I would expect you to feel like this---we all do. I know from the start of this journey, nothing is black and white. Nothing is guaranteed. But we do what we can because we love them so much, and you are absolutely doing this for exactly that reason. And, since you are human, you might second guess your decision, even though your head tells you that is counterproductive. Try to bypass that if you can. You'll need to be strong in more ways than one. Physically, try and rest up before she comes home---you need your sleep, now, and especially during those first few rough days when she comes back home. When you see her for the first time, you'll need to be strong then too. She won't understand why you're crying. I wish I could say that I totally forgot that Winnie was missing a leg, and that I never thought about her being whole again, but that wouldn't be true. Some people can. I think it gets easier with time, as you marvel in her strength and resiliency. She will be strong for you, and you need to be strong for her. And just from your posts when you first dealt with her diagnosis, and you made your decision, I know you can do that. Please know that you are doing just what you should be doing, because it is what you feel in your heart is right for Asia and for you. And please know that so many of us are here for you, and you and Asia are in our prayers. Waiting for an update, and sending tons of white light. My blog about grief The reality is that you will grieve forever. You will not get over the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same, nor would you want to. ― Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

Guest paulamariez
Keeping your precious girl Asia in my prayers today for a successful surgery!! You know your hound better than anyone and if you think this was the best thing for Asia and she was a healthy, spry and strong girl, there's no reason not to give her a chance at life!! The xrays being clear gives her an excellent prognosis!! Be strong for your little girl. I will keep her tender heart in my prayers for a quick and uneventful healing and recuperation. Tiger, Bueller and Domino are sending you both some doggie kisses to make you feel better!!
