  1. There's a tick removal tool - can't think of the name right now - looks like a small plastic spoon with a V notched in it. You slide it under the tick's body and the point of the notch will lift the whole tick out of the skin.
  2. Good girl Diamond! :dogcookie
  3. Looks like Gracie's histiocytoma. Benign. Hers comes and goes twice a year on her toe. No treatment needed just looks ugly. Certainly get your vet to check just in case.
  4. We just had a similar scare with Gracie that turned out to be bursitis. Several little white dots on the xrays were just osteophites. Hoping it's something simple for you too ..............
  5. Farewell Stanley, you will be missed..........
  6. My Gracie doesn't "cramp up" but she will run full speed in the yard and come in the house limping. Less and less the limping did not go away after a day. Last year the vet manipulated her front legs and could not find any tender areas, but he gave her a steroid shot that helped for a while. She limps nearly all the time now. Just a little, just her front leg. No corns. When she had her dental the other week the vet xrayed and found osteophytes-evidence of bursitis. We are to give her Tramadol as needed.
  7. Well, Xan, at least you haven't asked us to all go check our girlie grey's girlie parts to see what's under the hood........
  8. Farewell sweet Zelde...........
  9. I am so sorry that this happened to your little girl. Could you share her name so we could say a prayer for her? After losing a greyhound it can be hard to come on a site like this and see pictures of other greys. Hopefully in time you will find some joy here. If your vet is able to find out what happened, please let us know.
  10. Perhaps there's a greyhound adoption group near your new home that can suggest a vet with a better price.
  11. Our Oliver was sent home in a similar condition to your baby - weak and wobbly and dragging a leg- something just wasn't right. It's not how he looked after a previous dental. By the time we got home he was worse. Got him to the ER vet and my regular vet who'd done the dental was on duty. He was shocked at Oliver's appearance in just an hour. Oliver had had a stroke and we had to put him down. He was a month shy of 13. Ditto checking his temp. Ditto asking about what meds were used. Years ago Gracie returned very drunk for 2 days and vet stopped using whatever it was. I hope your baby feels better soon.
  12. Ouch! Is it just me or does that boo boo look heart-shaped in the last picture? Heal quickly Suds.
  13. GTer Jordan's grey Jordan has a similar looking area on her rear leg. It felt warm to me. They already know that it's osteo. I hope Jake has a simple boo boo. I'll steer Jordan (Janet) to this thread although she may be on her way to GIG right now.
  14. Gracie gets one on the same toe. three times now. Completely goes away then returns. Sticks around for about 3 months, then fades away.
  15. I'm so sorry. I'll be thinking about you and Dallas tomorrow.
  16. IIRC greyhounds don't often have this kind of knee problem. I wouldn't rush into surgery. Get a second opinion. Have you checked her for corns? Editing to add, my old mixed breed Rosie had anterior/posterior crusiate ligament surgery done on both knees.
  17. Welcome Greg. You've landed in just the right place for greyhound info. Jager looks like a very patient soul.
  18. Some vets will come to your house to help put your dog down and take the body away for cremation. As for camping, have some vet phone numbers handy for vets in that area. I hope Buddy is with you for a long time to come.
  19. could you fashion a snood by cutting off the end of your DH's socks?
  20. Thanks for all the information. And Burpdog, thanks for the PM's too. When Gracie goes in for her dental on Friday I'll have my requests typed up. If I get the younger partner he'll be curious, if I get the older partner I'll get the eye roll.
