  1. Check out : www.caninediabetes.org
  2. Regarding the fee, both animal poison control centers I know of charge a fee so have a credit card handy. Jessica, be sure to report if Gigi has um, menthal scented poo or gas.
  3. Since gracegirl said it looked like what Wally has, I'd say neither of the links above show it. The pannus and the heterochromia show the discoloration within the iris. What Grace and Wally have is what seems to be a streak of lighter color from the iris into the white part of the eye.
  4. I tried to get a picture of Wally's eye. You can see the brown. You should see the white of his eyes, but instead you can see the brown streak. It is only on the outer side of both eyes.
  5. Lost Comet to lymphoma. I truly hope it's just an infection.
  6. Wally's eyes have some brown in the sclera (white part), on the outer side. No clouding of the eyes, no redness. Not new, he's always had it. Never paws at his eyes. I searched on Google myself last night for all sorts of eye disorders and couldn't find anything like it. It's like he's got a bit of brindling in his eyes. O O <---normal eye balls <O O> <----- brown markings in the white sclera like a streak I'm curious to see what you find out Gracegirl.
  7. A year ago Gracie had this come up on her toe: Vet wasn't sure what it was. While she didn't like it to be touched, she rarely licked it and there was no limping. Gracie was treated with Baytril and it went completely away. A year later it has reappeared in the same spot. I do not have any Baytril on hand, but I do have Cephalexin. Would it be OK to give her Cephalexin? Incidentally, a friend's grey got an identical bump on her hip. It was biopsied as a benign histiocytoma and given antibiotics.
  8. Regarding the rib bumpiness, I think you are feeling regular bone. Gracie has a some that feel odd at the ends. Vet said it was not unusual. With Bullie's limp and panting, I think he should see the vet Monday. Excessive panting can = pain. Keep an eye on his temperature. Could he possibly have slipped when outside or has he run too much lately? Hope he's just got some normal aches and arthritis.
  9. Our non-grey got into some snail pellets for the garden (poison)and it gave her bloody vomit and bloody diarrhea. Nearly ruined her liver. Taught us a big lesson in safety with pesticides. The vet didn't think she'd live through it because of the damage to her liver, but she did.
  10. From VetCentric last year, one year Sentinel $107, last summer $127, today $150. But isn't that a really big jump in price for an established product? And yes, there's enough fleas around here to warrant using it.
  11. Recently someone posted about where to order online meds. I can't find that post now. I was just going to re-order Sentinel and saw the price had jumped $50 from last year for a one year supply. Yikes! This was thru VetCentric via my vet. It costs even more to get it at the vet office. Vet will probably write a script for another online ordering place if I push him, but he probably won't go for anything out of the country. Do the pharmacies in Australia require a vet script? Those of you who use them, are you pleased? We currently use Sentinel's Flavor tab. Does anyone know if this comes in a non-chewable pill at a cheaper price?
  12. In Ola's posts, read the 4th one. That's about what happened to my Gracie. She was in horrible pain with the second injection even though she had no problem with the first one. None of my dogs will ever get it again. Extreme pain. Very expensive E-vet visit. Lesson learned.

    2007 Roll Call

Shannon, a sweet senior when I fostered her, adopted by the Callahan's in New Bern NC. And Noni, a pretty little black girlie, achingly missed by Alice & Ray Bossert.
  14. "Ugg" sounds like an unhappy egg. At least you already have a bunny in your signature Jeff.
  15. No injuries here presently - knock wood - but I was wondering, what determines whether staples or stitches should be used on a wound? Can either ever be put in with only a local anesthesia rather than sedation?

    2007 Roll Call

Oliver (JJ Special Agent) left us in August, one month short of 13 years old. Sometimes I wonder if they leave us because they know another hound desparately needs a home. Comet left us, Oliver came home. Oliver left us, Wally came home. None quite filling the void. Each one more unique in their quirky ways, perhaps to make us finally laugh and get over the pain of loss. Selma (No U Turns Selma) I searched for you for 2 weeks. I was with you for only 2 hours yet I loved you for a lifetime.
