  1. All of my dogs have been bounces, except Sallie (foster failure ) so don't worry about Mercer. Yes, he loved you, but your home wasn't a good fit for him. He will find the perfect home and family, you can think that yours was a foster home
  2. best ears ever One day you will be able to remember all the good times, now is the time for grieving.
  3. congratulations, Wayne is gorgeous!
  4. It must have been so very difficult for you to make this decision, but it sounds like you made the best choice for the dog. He just wasn't the right fit for you and that is something you can't always know ahead of time. He will be fine at the kennel, and as a dog who has proven he can live with cats, it won't be long before he finds the right home. I am glad you are going to adopt again, you have shown yourself to be a good greyhound parent
  5. I would ditch the ACE and try something else. I know it works for some people, but I don't like it. Conner (80 lb) gets two Xanax and wears a thunder shirt. it isn't perfect, but he mostly just goes to a safe place (which changes) and shakes. There are other drugs if Xanax doesn't work, but I would definitely try something other than ACE. The thunder shirt doesn't work for all dogs, but if I get it on him before the thunder starts, it really helps. We have managed to avoid the big fireworks shows in the two years he's been with me, so I'm not sure how well it would work for that. Good luck, it is terrible to watch them go through this. And I am sorry to,hear your Minerva is gone
  6. Not the x-ray results you hoped for, but the important thing is he is happy and feels good, enjoying life
  7. Yes, Gentle Giants has a very bad reputation. Anything with their name on it would put up a huge red flag for me.
  8. I would ask your vet about different pain meds and dosages. Tramadol works great for many dogs, but some have a bad reaction, you won't know how your dog will react until you try. Glucosamine will help in milder cases of arthritis, but as it gets more severe, the supplements seem to have less effect
  9. Glad it is over with! Wish this could be a final fix, maybe it will!
  10. I've tried them a couple of times for different thunderphobic/fireworks phobic dogs. I didn't really see any difference, and I use other Springtime products. I'd say, give it a try, different things work for different dogs. I have had good results with melatonin for mild anxiety and you can get it in a time release form so it lasts over several hours.
  11. Poor boy, and poor you, too. I like the idea of trying a manuka honey dressing. I try to avoid amputation, but with this being a recurring thing, I think at this point I would seriously consider taking the toe
  12. I am so sorry, it hard when they go down so fast. She was beautiful
  13. Her other health issues certainly could cause some weight loss. I hope the diarrhea clears up quickly.
  14. Many greys do lose weight as they age, but 9 isn't that old, and 6 lbs is a lot What did the vet say when you picked up the diarrhea meds?
  15. I am so sorry How lucky you were to have this wonderful dog to share your life, and how hard it must be to go on without him
  16. I am not sure where you are located, but I am guessing not in the US? At any rate, I have never heard that rice or pasta were bad for greys, unless you are feeding a grain free diet (obviously ). I have also never heard of using baking soda, but I also have never heard of it being bad. You will get a lot of different opinions of what to feed
  17. I use the Oratene brushless gel and water additive for Val who has bad gingivitis. I also spray her mouth with a colloidal silver spray. The combo has made a huge difference, her gums and teeth are 90% improved, and I can really tell the difference if I miss a a day.
  18. I don't walk here in the summer at all. The cut off temperature depends on the dog, Fletcher got increasingly more heat sensitive as he got older. By the time he passed, at 11, he couldn't tolerate anything over 70. Conner (11) does fine with anything up to about 80, but we don't walk far because of his other mobility issues. I would try walking your dog again again when it gets cooler, and maybe less humid, depending on where you live. Just keep a close eye on her, you probably won't be able to go as far as you used to.
  19. I am so sorry. The evil C has taken so many
  20. I am so sorry, glad for her sake it was quick
  21. I am so sorry you didn't have a better outcome. Ajax is now pain free, I wish you could be the same
