    Lexie

Oh Lexie, I am so sorry it was your time to go. I will never forget your hats, your holiday posts, your amazing patience. Your legacy will be everyone who remembers what a special dog you were. to your mom and dad.
  3. I have been feeding raw for over ten years and never worried about cleaning their mouths, although I am careful to wash the bowls and counters. Never had any problems.
  4. When I met her I thought she was about 5 or 6! Of course, Petunia doesn’t look or act her age either
  5. I would avoid bamboo. I don’t have it, but when I was looking at flooring a couple of years ago the salesman told me that bamboo was not a good option for people with dogs, it was “softer” than other types of flooring. I have very wide plank wood-look tile that I really like. It has some texture to it, the grout has not been a problem. I agree with going to a flooring showroom, there are so many options these days.
  6. Poor Annie Our temps are supposed to drop down below the triple digits for a few days next week, I will tinker with the footwells.
  7. Thanks to everyone, this have given me some great ideas. I do still have the minivan (gold standard for houndmobile) but really want to sell that and just drive the smaller car.
  8. I saw this and liked it, but wanted something under it for support.
  9. Yes, that is exactly what I had in mind! I will try cutting up the foam I already have first (cheaper!) but good to know this is available if my red neck fix doesn't work.
  10. I have some 4" furniture foam I used on the couch after I took the cushions off for Conner (to lower the couch seat to make it easier for him to jump on), I can try cutting that to fit.
  11. I hadn’t thought of those foamy ottomans, that might work. I think the hammocks might not be stable enough for Val, any movement would spook her.
  12. Not sure that is the best title, but what I am asking, if you carry your grey in the back seat of a sedan type car, do you fill in the foot wells? What do you use to keep them on the seat? I am not explaining this very well, but most things I see are hammock type things, and I don't think that will work.
  13. I think you are providing a very valuable service for your group! Many adopters only want one dog (at first, anyway ) and most people work, so having a dog that was fostered in that environment would be great. Most greyhounds like being around other greys, but I think most do fine as only dogs. You will get a few that have SA, but don't feel like you have failed, you have helped them too, now the group knows not to adopt them as only dogs.
  14. I have heard of people adding green beans or other veggies to add bulk with few calories. I’ve always added oatmeal to my older grey’s food, lately I have been using the water I cook their chicken in instead of plain water to cook the oatmeal. A savory oatmeal, as it were plain cooked chicken breasts might work too, but that would be more expensive than the cooked veggies.
  15. Many greys (maybe other dogs too, I don't have experience there) will be less interested in breakfast in hot weather. Also her hooks may be affecting her appetite. I usually walk first and feed later in warm weather, to take advantage of the "cooler" temps A 40 minute walk may be too much for her until it gets cooler. Bloat is really not that common in retired racers, although it does happen. There has been no conclusive evidence on raised feeders vs feeding on the floor causing bloat. As you said, they usually get fed on the floor of their crates in the kennel. I have always fed mine in raised feeders just because it looked more comfortable with those long legs. That never stopped them from scarfing cookies off the floor though .
  16. Clearly you are not feeding that poor girl enough! Or maybe she is just looking for an upgrade. I know you have Uber Eats...
  17. glad he made it through the treatment with no upsets! now for good results
