  1. Terribly sorry to have so much heartache so close together!
  2. I think there is a special bonding for you and a dog that comes straight from the track. You get to learn all the stuff together. Two of mine were and they were no more difficult to work with than the other ones. There is always a learning curve. Good luck and you are doing a great thing in fostering. But it is how I ended up with 4 dogs!
  3. Kari...what a wonderful tribute to Mel!!
  4. for you and your family... So sad that they can not have more time.
  5. Lucy...I wasn't fortunate to have ever met Riley but always loved the pictures of him and his love for his "little" brothers. He was a beautiful dog, inside and out it sounds like. You were both lucky to have found one another. Eventually you will find peace in those memories...they never go away. Rascal was my Riley....He has been gone almost 6 years and I still miss him and laugh at his antics.
  6. Lucy....Big hugs from the mainland... The days will get easier even though it will not seem that way....
  7. Oh Pat...I am so sorry for your loss.... He was such a beautiful boy.
  8. Thanks for all the pics....love the scenery/wildlife ones and the dogs in the truck are too flipping funny!
  9. Oh Lucy...I am so sorry.... I have euthanized both of mine at the ER vet. Honestly it was all I could do. Scheduling a vet to come to the house was something I could just not commit to. Rascal was at 3am although it was a lengthy illness but he was ready then and for me it was easier in the darkness of night. I wish you peace during such a difficult time.
  10. Many hugs to you and your family..... Sweet Sterling....many hopes that the pizza man is bringing you a big pizza right now!
  11. You were both so lucky to have found each other. Rest well sweet likky...
  12. Oh I am so sorry you didn't have more time with him....
  13. Not sure what that is....I hope he feels better. He didn't get stepped on by someone else did he? Thinking it might be a nail injury from someone else?
  14. I thought the same thing...I would take Rascal's ashes to the beach where we used to live. Completely different when I picked up his ashes. They are on my night stand in a wooden box. No DBF or kids to think I am crazy though!
  15. Mo...I am so sorry for your loss....Your pictures are a wonderful tribute to her...that one of she and Murph is priceless.
  16. Bounty was a natural born retriever...he never had an interest in running in circles with other greyhounds. He needed to chase something. His frisbee skills were amazing. I never really taught it to him...he just knew. I tried to lead it with him and throwing it right above his head got him leaping for it.
  17. I treated Rascal for Lymphoma several years ago. He lived 15 months past diagnosis and he was 11 when diagnosed. He never had trouble with teh treatments but they just quit working eventually but we were able to go thru a couple drugs that bought us time. Best wishes on a successful treatment.
  18. Pixie loves the boys maybe more than they love her but they never put up a fuss when she snuggles with them or walks under them...
  19. That was what I was going to say....I have never seen my other breeds do that but every greyhound does!
