  3. Taylor stayed in the hospital for 6 nights due to serious edema and swelling, even with Amicar. He was off the patch after 4 days, and then on to 200 PM of Tramadol every 8 hours and stayed at that dose until stitches came out at 2 weeks, and then over the course of 4 days, reduced the Tramadol to nothing. That Tramadol did make him whiny and pant, but he did sleep most of the time. There was LOT of peeing the the first few days at home. Out at least 3 times from 11:00 PM till 7:00 AM, and then every 2-3 hours during the day to get rid of the edema. Don't try to "schedule" her peeing. Let her out to pee as needed. Need to keep things flowing. Constant panting and whining sounds like she is being under medicated for pain. It is critical that pain be managed the first couple of weeks. Take a look at my thread in this section, "My boy Taylor" started the day he was diagnosed with Osteo. There might be some things there to help you.
  4. From the Olewo site: Dogs Cannot Properly Digest Raw Carrots Many pet owners are not aware of the fact that their dogs are not able to benefit from the nutrition in carrots when feeding the raw vegetable. 7. Today is a day of celebration.......it's Taylor's ONE year ampuversary and 15 months since diagnosis with Osteo. He had his every 3 months checkup with his oncologist 11 days ago, and chest x-rays and blood work are fine!! He's a happy boy.
  8. It depends on the food, too. Check the calorie counts.
  9. Taylor (7 years old this past December) had his checkup Wednesday with his oncologist......"ALL CLEAR!!!!!!! His every 3 month chest x-rays and physical: FINE His every 6 month blood work: FINE In 10 days, it will be ONE year since amputation on April 10, 2015 , and also it will be 15 months since diagnosis with Osteosarcoma of his right front leg on January 10, 2015 . Treatment started immediately in January. Once a week for 4 weeks of radiation, and once every 3 weeks of the bone strengthening drug, Zoledronate. Chemo, Carboplatin (provided at N/C from Ohio State University) was given once a month for 4 months. Taylor is a happy boy. He loves and demands rides and walks 2-3 times a day. We're out every day, having out own "meet and greets". People are amazed to see how well he is doing, and smile when I tell them he runs around the back yard like a lunatic. He loves the attention and the hugs and kisses on his head. He goes from person to person with Face, looking for attention and hopefully treats!!
  10. I suggest walking him on a leash for the first couple of weeks. I used one of those awful flexleads on Taylor after his amputation, and it allowed him to trot along, but with some control if needed.
  11. Total cost was around $80.00. The pieces (cut at Home Depot which is a good way to do it since cutting creates a MESS), adhesive, and remnant carpet.
  12. I built these steps a year ago for Taylor. 2" thick Styrofoam sheets from Home Depot, glued together, and carpeted.
  13. Relieved to hear Dr. Couto's findings
  14. Unless he is travelling at the time, it could very well be the same day for a response.
  15. Prayers for your boy My boy just ran around the back yard and is zzzzzz.........almost 1 year after amputation for Osteo.
