I don't like the way it fits, either! It's velvet lined, and doesn't seem to bother her, but it does look uncomfortable. The instructions say to tighten as much as you can.

You'd think I would know better by now than to just open the door without checking for critters. I've got a young, seriously high prey nutjob on my hands who just lives to "get the thing." Anyhow, I opened the door, Brees went out, I saw the kitty, yelled "Brees, no", Brees saw the kitty -- and she kept eye contact with me! Then kitty ran off, and Brees still hesitated just long enough for the cat to make it over the fence. Brees did a lap of the yard, hoping to find another, peed, and trotted right back to me when I told her to. So not perfect by any means, but better. I'm not going to the vet with a dying cat and a scratched up houndie this morning! Brees is a good dog.

Brees will eat pretty much anything we are eating -- fruit, veggies, whatever. Joe is more strange for what he won't eat: fries! Give him a fry without ketchup, and he won't touch it. Dip it in the red stuff, and he goes crazy!

Even if the tests don't confirm a UTI, it could very likely still be one. I had that problem with my Joe a while ago. It's worth trying antibiotics, just in case. Good luck!

Pretty babies! I like your t-shirts and such. They seem a little, um, "younger" than a lot of what's out there.

Just buy a bed every time you go. The dog will need one in every room!

I wish you were around here. NGAP does a pretty decent awake de-gunking. It's by no means a real dental, but it helps. Do you have someone who can do that after you've had him on antibiotics for a bit?

I'd goop it up with peanut butter. She'll have to do some work to get it, so maybe she'll get the idea.

Pam, it was your constant pushing of IAMS that convinced me to try Joe on it. I'm sold! It might not be "good" stuff, but it works for my two. And the price is rather nice.

Just make sure the pool is in the shade, and to empty and refill it a lot. I'm often surprised by how warm ours gets, and we're only in New Jersey.

We had lots of trouble for a couple months after bringing Brees home, and still have minor issues. We muzzled both whenever they were together for at least 2 weeks, and maybe closer to a month. Joe was pretty displeased about the "interloper" and got really cranky for awhile. My sweet boy who I could do anything to, at any time, starting growling at me when I got too close and he was in a funk. It wasn't fun. Poor guy was really stressed out, and I can't blame him. Brees is a pain in the neck! Things have settled down a lot. They play nicely outside all the time, and sometimes start playing inside. They do guard toys and bones from each other, so we have to be careful about that. If Joe is cranky, Brees gets told off in a very scary way when she gets too close to him. He's never laid a tooth on her, but we do try to watch his moods and make her give him space when he needs it. On the other hand, they also sleep next to each other often and use each other as pillows. Last night Brees had her feet in Joe's face, started dreaming, and kicked him several times. No reaction from him at all. They're good in the car together. I muzzle in the Taurus, because space is tight, but not in the minivan. Oddly enough, they often share a kibble dish. We try to discourage it, but find them in the kitchen eating out of the same bowl. That's never been a problem, which baffles me. I guess they know the kibble supply is endless, so there's no need to fight over it! We crate her in the bedroom at night at when we leave. It's Joe's old crate, so it's huge for her. She likes it, and often puts herself to bed at night before we go upstairs. Joe is left uncrated, but confined to the bedroom. We're slobs, and the bedroom is the only room that's not likely to have tasty trash. If I'd known how bad that first month was going to be, we might not have gotten a second (or gone with a different dog). Brees is young, hyper, and smart. She drives us all bananas. She's also super cuddly and always in a good mood. Joe was bored out of his mind before we added a second dog; he's not now! I do think that a large part of our problem is my tiny, cluttered house. With more space to "escape" Joe probably wouldn't have felt as uncomfortable at the start.

I thought he was doing better after the deworming? Poor guy! Can't remember -- have you already tried canned pumpkin? You'll get a bunch of replies soon. We loooooove talking about poop! Folks, Blossie is the great big hunka hound in the very front of this pic. He's completely sweet, even with badly behaved yappers on flexi-leads. AND he doesn't get upset when Joe is a butt-head. Blossie is awesome!
