  1. She didn't make it to her appointment. She's in Remembrance.
  2. Jen, I'm so sorry Mo left. She was such a wonderful girl.
  3. To post pix, you need a public picture holder like Photobucket or Flickr. and welcome from NJ.
  4. I adopted a girl who almost died from that. She was 3. She lived to 12 and had no health issues at all until osteo claimed her. I had three other greys at the time. No one got it.
  5. There is a link to an article about Taylor in the thread "My Boy Taylor". It's an upbeat article. I would recommend it.
  6. If I had done ultrasounds on both Pearl and Brindle, I would have caught that disease early enough to remove the spleen. I'm not sure with Crystal as I had her only 18 days. I've lost three to this horrid disease.
  7. I just did a front leg amp on my 9.5 yr old. Look at "Tanzi loses a leg tomorrow" topic. She can't be stopped. She pushes me out of the way telling me in no uncertain terms that she's got a lot of life left to live. I also went the amp route to my 12 yr old back in 2010. She had a great 6 months. She still chased deer, scaring the crap out of me. Most people who went the amp route questioned themselves if they did the right thing for 2 weeks after the surgery. But I can't remember anyone say they regretted it after that 2 weeks were up. Take a look at the thread titled "My boy Taylor". He's a front leg amp. 9 is actually a good prognosis age. Usually younger or older dogs have a worse prognosis. The reason I went the amp route is that I work full time and I feared coming home to a dog with a broken leg. But, please remember, whatever decision you make, it's out of love for your girl. No decision based on that is wrong. I wish you were closer to NJ so that you could meet Tanzi.
  8. I hope it's a wonderful several months ahead. And I also hope my Tanzi makes it as long as Taylor.
  9. Two years ago Feb 12, I lost my Opal suddenly. Yesterday I had a hard cry in the car on the way home from work from missing her. So while the pain lessens with time, they never fully leave you.
  10. You don't want to consider amputation? I just went that route with my 9 yr old. She is loving life.
  11. Nan, just like Laura, I unfortunately know what you're going through. I'm so sorry.
  12. I have two now. And one would fit your lifestyle and the other your mother's. Just work with the adoption group.
  13. If it is LP, my Onyx had the tieback when she was 11. She lived to 15.5 yrs old!
  14. He'll be fine. At first he'll need soft food, but eventually he won't even need his kibble soaked. My Dima lost all her teeth too. 23 at one shot.
  15. Off topic, I still remember that Dewey where you lost Scarlett. That was so horrible.
  16. Try fostering if you can. If you're not ready, then the foster can eventually go to a forever home.
  17. Two of my ten have/had OS. I believe Dr Couto stated that it was about 25%.
  18. I'm sorry to hear that Bowie has joined this club. Tanzi is 9. How old is Bowie?
  19. Tanzi had her forth chemo yesterday. Today was the first time after a chemo that she didn't want her breakfast. She's a massive food hound. So I gave her cerenia today. She's still active and eating cookies, but she's just not as sparky. We have two more. For those that have gone through this, should I expect her to feel worse on the last two?
  20. our oncologist said that wrist OS has a better survival prognosis than if it was in the shoulder. Tanzi also had it in the wrist.
  21. I see it's the same leg as Tanzi's. Was it wrist or shoulder?
