  1. I was so hoping she'd bounce back.
  2. Oh Chris, I'm so sorry. Dude just made it to 9 months. I thought we were celebrating and now this.

It was a beautiful tribute to a special boy.
  4. Thank you. It's in her shoulder - right near the joint so it's really high up. Considering that a typical front leg amputation removes the entire shoulder, including the scapula, this shouldn't be a reason that it's 'inoperable.' The top of the humerus is one of the most common locations for osteo. If amputation/chemo is an option you would want to consider, I'd suggest a second opinion, perhaps even ask for referral to a specialist. There are many other reasons to decide not to pursue definitive treatment with amp/chemo, and many opt to go with palliative care, but just wanted to mention this if it was something you did want to consider. So sorry to hear about Hailey's diagnosis, especially so soon after everything you just went through with Sara. This is where my Diamond's was, and I took her to OSU for amp surgery. She was 12 and did very very well. She had a very good 6 months until OS hit another leg bone.
  5. If you need to keep the wound wrapped, include the whole foot in the wrap. That will help keep any swelling down.
  6. What's her race name? She looks so much like my late Topaz.
  7. Heather and Ken, I am SO SO very sorry to hear of Prajna's passing. Some dogs just create an unbreakable bond, that not even death can break it.
  8. She was beautiful. Happy birthday to rooo Happy birthday to ROoooo Happy Bridge Birthday dear Erin Happy birthday to roooooOOOOOOOOOOOO Sung in 3 part harmony by the Gemtones by the Bridge (Pearl, Diamond and Onyx)
  9. She's beautiful. I hope everything works out positively. There's enough bad news lately.
  10. I'm so sorry to see all the new people and their pups on this thread. There just seems to be too many nowadays. Robin, I went the amp route with my 12 yr old Diamond. I drove from NJ to OSU for that. She also did the chemo. At her age she was perfectly happy to lay around a quiet exam room, on her bed while the chemo was administered. She did get a bit of an upset tummy for the later treatments, but that didn't last long. She was usually eating again within days. She lasted 6 happy, pain-free months, her lungs remained clear. OS struck another leg. Since she was already a tripod, there were no more options.

  12. It's been an incredibly rough month. It's hard enough to cry over our own babies when they leave, but when we get attached to all the other greys here on GT, it becomes unbearable. Sometimes I just stay away from GT for a few days to get a break. Only to log back on and see another handful in Remembrance.

I thought you had it beat. I thought the seisures were under control. He made it so long without having one. My heart just broke when I saw his name here.
  14. I'm so so sorry to hear the news. For what it's worth, I took my 12 yr old Diamond to OSU for consultation (from NJ) and ended up going the amp route. I had a very good 6 months with her. She was happy and got around just great. Her lungs stayed clear til the end. OS struck another leg, that's when we lost the battle. Good luch in what ever decision you make. It'll not be easy, but remember you're doing it out of love for her.
  15. Trish that was an awesome tribute to an awesome lady.
  16. My vet charged $50 for administering the chemo. Xrays were taken every three months. The CBC was done in house and wasn't expensive. So post amp treatment costs depends heavily on how expensive your vet is.
  17. When my Dima had OS, I went to OSU for the amp, but they mailed the chemo to my local vets. They did the chemo (the instructions were very precise) for a lot less $$ than any of the bigger clinics that deal with oncology.
  18. Oh Greg, she was so young! It shatters my heart when they don't get to live long. At least she had a WONDERFUL short time with you.
