2greyhoundMINI
Ok gang, I need to be talked off a ledge… This morning I noticed a bit of a “bulge” on the right side of her neck. It’s not huge, it’s not hard, and it’s not super soft like fluid. It is right in front where her stitch line is/was on her shoulder. At first I panicked, but then I’m wondering with a lot more activity, is it just her muscles developing asymmetrical on her right side now? I mean, she isn’t the on both sides anymore, holds her head a bit to the right, etc for balance. Appetite, activity, etc is all good and normal. Anyone experience this? Of course we will be watching this for any change. I can take a pic for location reference if you all want. Thx. A photo would be helpful, but I suspect it is the muscle laying a bit differently now that she doesn't have a shoulder blade on that side. With Willa, I notice the "bulge" is more pronounced when she is wearing her harness and it kind of bunches her skin up on that side. I am probably not explaining this well, but all this to say: I think what you're seeing is normal and nothing to worry about—but do post a pic if you can! 1 Quote Rachel with littermates Doolin and Willa, boss cat Tootie, and feline squatters Crumpet and Fezziwig. 2greyhoundMINI
Here are 3 pics I got: The first pic shows it the best. But it runs along the white fur, next to the scar line that runs right where the red fur is. Not sure if the surgeon did that on purpose but it sure hides the scar well! I do recall the “bulge” a bit when we had her shirt on, etc. I think I am being paranoid at the moment. But a second, 3rd, 4th set off eyes from you all is great. Thx! ramonaghan
Yeah, I think it just looks like a bulge because there's no shoulder blade and they probably took out some muscle too. Willa for comparison (please excuse my socks , I didn't have the most cooperative model). 1 Quote Rachel with littermates Doolin and Willa, boss cat Tootie, and feline squatters Crumpet and Fezziwig. 2greyhoundMINI
Oh thank you! Wow I really had myself worked up this morning! She is doing so well. BTW - how long has it been for Willa? 1Moregrey
In the first picture it looks like the left side to me if you just imagine the shoulder blade back. She is not in alignment as you stated so she has a little sway for balance and it looks like that is making the “muscle bulge” more noticeable. just my opinion. Glad she is doing so well.
greysmom
All that muscle and tissue in the area has to resettle and redistribute, which will happen over time as she heals and uses it more. I don't see anything concerning, but you can always ask your onco before her next chemo, or send them the pics and see what they say. {{{hugs}}} 1 Quote Chris - Mom to: Felicity (DeLand), and Andi (Braska Pandora) siggy by Chris Harper, on Flickr Angels: Libby (Everlast), Dorie (Dog Gone Holly), Dude (TNJ VooDoo), Copper (Kid's Copper), Cash (GSI Payncash), Toni (LPH Cry Baby), Whiskey (KT's Phys Ed), Atom, Lilly
2greyhoundMINI
Well, after my freak out today I have good news! Went out to dinner, when we got home we let the girls out. Their MO is is to sprint from the door to the far corner of the yard chasing shadows or goblins. Amelia has always been faster than Carmen…. Well wouldn’t you know it. BatterseaBrindl
When all her hair grows back in I think she’ll look more ‘even’. And yes.. she’ll develop more - different - muscles as she gets fitter. Our first front-amp boy had no shoulder blade and he always looked a little ‘off-kilter’. Joshi still has her shoulder and from above is quite even. She also has lots of hair to hide any unevenness. 1 Quote Nancy...Mom to Sid (Peteles Tiger), Kibo (112 Carlota Galgos) and Joshi. 2greyhoundMINI
Good morning grey peeps! Hope everyone had a nice Easter weekend. Update: Amelia was able to get her 3rd chemo treatment this morning. Next treatment she will get a chest scan to make sure all is well and treatments are working. In the meantime, she is very much her usual self these past couple weeks. 2greyhoundMINI
Update: Amelia is doing well after her 3rd treatment. There was a mix-up and we did not get the anti-nausea meds. So far she is fine without. ramonaghan
We only ever needed nausea meds for Doxorubicin, not Carboplatin. Sounds like Amelia is handling it all like the champ she is. Please keep the good news coming! We need as much as we can get after Cindy lost her boy Zeke today to this horrid disease.
