silverfish
I do hope he'll stop bleeding soon. Poor guy. It's all very worrying when they're not bouncing back properly. But they must have thought he was not in too much danger to be sending him home. Just keep a very close eye on him and call the emergency vet if you're worried. It's all you can do. Charlies_Dad
Yes we had a similar problem albeit not for a dental. Our angel Shelby had a small growth on her gums and the vet recommended it be removed so we did so. Well she came out of thing okay but bled profusely over the next 2 days. Amicar was the solution in the end plus the vet did have to go back in and re-stitch. It was nasty and frightening but she did improve. I hope Potter is better today. Guest amyb
More blood this morning than yesterday morning. He's had 4 doses at this point so I would think there would be at least a little improvement. I'm going to give them a call and see what they think. Poor thing bleeds I'm his sleep and then ends up lying in it....he's mostly white, but now he's sort of pink. I keep trying to clean him up but he seems more annoyed with that than the bleeding
MaryJane
Are you by chance giving fish oil as a supplement? Fish oil has aspirin like tendencies and can keep platelets from clumping/clotting. Hope that the bleeding gets under control this morning.

Hope that the bleeding gets under control this morning. No, no suppliments of any kind. Talked to the vet again. He is recommending a mild tranquilizer to keep him super calm and lower his blood pressure a little bit. He said he's had a lot of success with greys doing this because it will help the blood clot. If it doesn't stop by tonight, he wants to put Potter under anesthesia again tomorrow to cauterize the blood vessels. He doesn't think it can be restitched...he believes that the gums probably tore when the stitches broke. Wish us luck. I know that in the whole scheme of injuries and things that could go wrong, this is not the end of the world, but it is our first experience with any sort of health problem with our grey. As big and strong as he is, it's just heartbreaking to see him hurt like this.

Remolacha
So sorry Potter is not better yet. As you say, it is not a major crisis, but you hate to see anything wrong, and can't help but worry!
Charlies_Dad
This is what happened to Shelby which sounds very similar to Potter. Amicar saved the day for us but it took a bit of time to clot as they tried to cauterize but that didn't solve the issue. You will see by the pics below, that it was pretty severe but she pulled through okay. This is after it clotted and we brought her back home. Good thoughts for Potter. Guest amyb
Cautiously reporting good news....the tranquilizers seem to be working! Poor baby is drugged stupid, but the bleeding appears to have almost stopped! He is very wobbly (and starting to get suspicious of the drugged peanut butter), but hopefully the worst is over

XTRAWLD
I remember how drugged up Ryder was after his dental...poor thing couldn't see or barely walk straight, but i'm sure he appreciated being pain free, as I'm sure your baby is! Guest RooMcClanahan
Very, very good news! I crushed on Potter from afar (our two brindles are also from RR) when he was up for adoption. Two questions: How in the world was his race name pronounced? And also, want to come walk with us if you're in south city? In any case, GREYT news. Hugs to, um, the pup formerly known as "quirk-son"?
