Guest needlenosemom Posted December 13, 2012 Share Posted December 13, 2012 Our beloved, KIa, age 8 1/2 , crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday, November 24th,2012. We rescued her at the age of 2 1/2 and within a month or so, she became a registered therapy dog. We did lotsa "visits" in our 6 years we shared together. I miss her soooooo much and tears are still triggered by many things. I just picked up her ashes late last week. People have been SO kind in expressing their condolences in many different days. She was our 4th greyhound. Had a tumor on her parathyroid causing rising levels of ionized calcium levels and her incontinence gettting worse and worse in a very short time. She was outside in the yard, playing when she ran her grande finale lap. I heard a horrific shriek and found her outside with a very broken danging hock. She was in so much pain. She let me know her time "had come". I had been prayingjust the nite before and asking God to tell me and Kia to let me know when the time was right as surgery to remove her tumor was no guarantee that the incontinence would stop. I had her in cloth diapers for a few weeks, hoping she would show improvment. Am trying to dwell on the wonderful memories she shared with our family and many others. One of my Borzois broke a hock and needed very complicated reconstructive surgery, she was in pain for a long time but lived 12 months after before dying from Kindey failure.
