Guest jerrybird
Thinking of this special lad that many of us never got to meet but followed so closely. Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are at peace and are happy. fsugrad
How well I remember Ranchie. A little over 2 yrs ago today, I met Pam up in the Florida Panhandle and picked up our Robin--it was his gotcha day with us. I also had an extra passenger coming south with us, Ranchie, who I brought down to Marilyn. Ranchie had been cared for by Pam and her team for months and was now going to receive medical care from Marilyn's vets, be cured of whatever he had--at least we hoped, and then find a home. Sadly it was not to be. Gone but never forgotten. Edited to add: Here's a photo of the very handsome Ranchie, who fought so hard. onrushpam
I'm just now seeing this thread... Thank you all for remembering sweet Ranch. We never learned exactly what it was, beyond the fact it was a bacteria from the strep family. We'll never know why it was so systemic and long-lived, despite massive long-term antibiotics. We've had several other dogs with similar, but much less serious, symptoms. All have responded to antibiotics and are now fine.
