You know I visit you every day, with the tears still falling. The flowers around your grave are so pretty right now, and your little spot in the Memory Garden in Canada just fills my heart with appreciation and gladness as you will never be forgotten. Yes, Millie and Bancroft are now here, but even the two of them cannot replace the joy you brought me and the little guys. You know how they miss you, they sadly suffered your passing right along with me. And Mike misses you as much as I do. You loved him so much and watched for him when he came home. Millie and Bancroft hide from him. Your blankets and toys are packed up; I could not bear to see any one else on your pink blanket. I am so so sorry that I forced you to go for the surgery. You balked getting in and out of the car. You were telling me something and I was not listening. I will never forgive myself for that. I only pray that you are now free of the pain, but I am so sorry for the pain I forced on you. Thank you, Bessie, for teaching the cats to accept big dogs. Thank you for teaching me that I can accept big dogs into my home. Thank you for all the love and adoration you gave. Thank you for the honor of taking your last breath with my arms wrapped around you. She was so innocent to everything, shy at times for the new things, eager to learn, and even imitate the dachshunds by lifting her leg!So sweet and small. I saved the pic of the garden and it comes across my screen and makes me smile. You have no idea how comforting it is. Thanks to all who responded. It means a lot that you took the time for me and Bessie. I made it through a year. She will live in your heart forever and her spirit will stay by your side. Across the bridge, She watches, she waits for friends and loved ones.. and I'm sure she loves her garden stone.. She is at peace, as you should be. You and Mike gave her hugs and love and taught her about another way to live.
