We were up at the cabin for our annual family reunion and I stopped at the hobby farm next door to love on the kitties. I saw this cute black and white cat who followed me around. Long story short- I took her home. She slept in my lap for the 3 hour drive home. She met her new brother Mel and they got along perfectly. She was on the small size and didn't end up growing much bigger so I always called her my baby kitty. In 1997 I got a summer job in Alaska and was advised that it wouldn't be a good idea to bring the cats since it was a sled dog farm. I knew I couldn't be without Sili so she made the move with me and Mel went to live with my brother for the summer. I ended up staying 2 years and brought Mel a few months after I decided to stay longer than the summer. They both loved roaming around outside and came back to the house at night to sleep with us. How do I summarize 16 years? She was the best cat. She loved to lay in the sun, on plastic bags, on my work bag, on my clothes. I always had white fur on me. She would come running when I called her. She purred so loud sometimes She loved to lick the windows. It would drive me nuts. Sili slept with me every night either on my chest, curled under my chin or on the top of my pillow. Once in a while she would snuggle with Mel but she loved sleeping with me best. The last 2 nights I haven't slept because I didn't want her to die without me petting her and holding her. I brought my foster to his forever home tonight and I brought her with in the car. I've been checking her constantly the last few days to make sure she was still breathing and when her breathing started to slow tonight- I held her and told her that I loved her. She took her last breath at 8:30 tonight with me holding her, petting her and telling her how much I loved her. Her tail got super fluffy which made me smile through my tears. Laying on my chest this morning getting a belly rub Laying in a sun beam yesterday with Mel Laying with Passion Halloween night Lucky watching over her this morning Little feets Mel watching over her yesterday Her final sun beam yesterday morning I don't know how I will sleep tonight except that I am beyond exhausted. I have a giant lump in my throat and it's getting hard to see through the tears welling in my eyes. I have tears in my eyes looking at the pictures of her. She was so beautiful. I'm sure she felt your love because it comes through in the pictures. I have five cats here along with Harley, our greyhound. I totally understand the love for our dear kitties. Their purr is so sweet and comforting isn't it. I, too, lost my heart kitty, who was also black and white and slept against me every night for the seven short years of his life. I know how your heart must be aching now-they do so fill it with love, don't they? Sili was very pretty and sounds like she was a perfect companion.
