Guest greytbookert
Thinking of you on your birthday today... we miss you everyday, Annie! 10.26.11 Her homecoming.... DH was asked by one of the receptionists at work if he wanted a client's greyhound that they were going to euthanize for snapping at their child. Without hesitation, DH said "Yes". DH came home and told me, and I, of course said "Yes". We met Annie, overweight, obvious problems with her eyes, seemed very timid and withdrawn, a half tail, and other issues. We told the people that we would accept her into our home and let her live out her life, however long it would be. She had been with that family for almost 10 years. Her coat was thick, almost like a farm coat and we learned that she was kept outside a lot! They brought her over in the back of a pick up truck, August 18, 2008. Her "before" pic. Her transformation... She needed a diet, so that was the first order of business ordered by the vet. The next was the typical lab work, which all came back ok. She had issues with her back that we treated with a little tramadol, massage, physical therapy and accupuncture. After a few months, the weight came off and she had a little pep in her step. She quickly became friends with our Mama and then when Mama left, her and T became fast friends. Her "after" pic Annie was a quirky hound. She had a funny run that looked like a dressage horse's trot. She would get these little bursts of energy that would make her do a quick turn and then a little sprint. The sprints were quick, lasting only seconds because of her back, but nonetheless, very cute. The funniest memory that I have of Annie Bananie, is when she was hunting for her chipmunk that was in the wall and it squeaked... well, she jumped straight up and back on all four legs. She had the most inquisitive expression when she'd check the wall for "Chip". She started coming over to us to seek attention, where before she would just lay around and would seem unsettled or confused when we'd pat her. It was such a joy for us to see her become a trusting hound and to actually enjoy her life. She loved having her "boyfriend" Soul come over, so she could make her googly eyes at him. She loved her mama's frozen yogurt/peanut butter treats. Who am I kidding, she loved all food. Her most recent find was tomatoes fresh off the plant. I made the mistake of giving her one as I was picking them.... she learned fast that the little red circles were quite tasty. <img src="http://forum.greytalk.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" /> Her time with us was way too short, but then again it always is, no matter how long they are with us. I'm happy that the last year of her life was spent with us. We loved her and I'm pretty sure that she loved being with us. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> Run free, Annie.. aka Banana Bread, Banana puddin', Banana phone, Annie Bananie. We miss you! You're in some good company up there at the bridge. When you have some time, please send us a sign that you're ok because if those storms last night were your sign, you haven't lost your sense of humor. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/lol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="lol.gif" /> our family photo from last August. Annie, Sahra, T, Mama Ro, and Eric Edited October 26, 2011 by greytbookert

Guest greygirls2
What an amazing transformation Annie made during her life with you. She certainly lived much better and obviously flourished with the love and care you gave her. I am so sorry your time with Annie was so short but I'm glad she had you for that time. That was a beautiful tribute to Annie and the pictures are precious. Hold her close to your heart. Run fast and free now Annie.....and rest on the softest of Angel's wings. Guest MyCody
How wonderful that she was with you and knew what it was like to be loved, even much too briefly. We took a 7 year old pup who was returned because she was "sick all the time" turns out she had lymphoma, and we were blessed with her for a very short five months, but we spoiled her and cared for her with all the tenderness we knew how to give her. Guest SoulsMom
Oh Annie Soul and I are going to miss you so, so, much sweet girl. You were one of a kind. . . .(and yeah, thanks for the tornado last night ) Deb, hugs to you and Ed I know how much it hurts me to know she had to go, I can't even imagine the pain in your heart. ETA: the way she would demurely make those 'googly eyes' at Soul was so sweet. And the way she would casually inch just a little bit closer . . . . .as if she was saying "You can be my boyfriend if you want to" I still can't believe it . . . .
