  1. Kari - I am so sorry to read about this. Run free Hana.
  2. Hi Kim - I just read this about Rainey. It must have been so so scary for you. I'm glad that she has recovered good and lets hope this was just an isolated incident. Sue
  3. I have a little blue girl from Trent Lee. She never raced, as a matter of fact the litter never raced. She was one of 5 blues in the litter. She is my wild child, but she brings so much energy to the house. She is just turning 3 next month, so still has the puppy mentality. As for training her, she is very smart, she just doesn't apply herself. She is a lot more stubborn than the rest of my hounds too. She is very quick, but you can tell she does not have the same form as my other pups.
  4. Blossom is gorgeous and she also has on a very beautiful collar!
  5. Congratulations Vanessa. You guys are very luck to have Junebug. I hope to meet you at the GO reunion in November. I am friends with and work with your adoption rep/foster mom. I actually spoke with your other half a few weeks ago. Keep us posted on Junebug's progress.
  6. Sending good thoughts your way Kari and Passion.
  7. I remember my friends pup Tallinn. She is not a member of GT, so I will post in her honor. Tallinn was a big brindle boy who was 10.5 years old. He crossed the bridge yesterday. God Speed Tallinn.
  8. I have mine lined with dr. scholls stuff. soft padding stuff.
  9. My 4 are muzzled when I'm not home, basket muzzle. You should see my 2 year old zip around the house playing with her toys with it on. When I get home she doesn't even come to me to take it off. They get used to it and they can play, eat, drink, pant, and live very comfortably with it on. It is for their protection from each other as I have 4 and they can get quite rambunctious and pissy with each other.
  10. I can't remember, she referred to it as a bacterial overgrowth and he is on Tylan.
  11. Hi Jeannie. Stetson had his teeth cleaned and a wart removed and was on antibiotics. He got the Big D. I took him in this week after 2 weeks of this and going thru rice and boiled beef and the whole nine yards. The vet took a swab and he has a bacterial infection. Equivalent to a yeast infection in woman basically. He is on day 2 of the meds and his poop is looking good (if poop can look good)! Has your vet taken a swab and looked for bacteria? To add, all my guys are on probiotics, but it didn't help keep the bacteria out with Stetson.
  12. One of my boys tore his and he had to have a couple of stiches, healed up quickly. It was a bad tear tho, would not stop bleeding. My other boy just tore his this past week. Not really bleeding so I think it is OK. I have kept an eye on it. Today I will clean it really good to see how it is doing. I think the biggest concern is infection, so gotta really watch out for that.
  13. Don't beat yourself up. She knew she was loved and she is now telling all her buddies the great home she had.
  14. Good news for Sweet T. I know what it is like to adopt a pup and then have her crash after spaying. Thank goodness for me she is doing wonderfully now. I hope and prayer her forever family will be able to say the same thing in the coming months.
  15. On July 14, 2007 my first greyhound found me, her racing name was Teri Towel and volunteers at the kennel called her Peaches. She had just arrived at the kennel and was one of the last dogs I looked at. Unbeknownst to me at the time, the kennel volunteers didn't show her to me because she was cat safe and I did not have a cat. I didn't realized this until after I had Peaches for a few months and I started volunteering at the kennel. Within the first few seconds of having Peaches out of the crate she bonded with my boyfriend and I. She played with us in the yard and when we called her name she came running to us. We knew she was going to be a member of our family then. Below is a picture of her and I on adoption day. Peaches arrived at her forever home on 8/7/07. She immediately played with toys and laid on her beds. She slept thru the night, unlike me, I was up every hour making sure she was breathing! She was a cuddle bug from minute one. I would sit on the floor and she would come snuggle with me. She was comfortable with anyone. She was a perfect dog from day one. Here is a picture of Peaches 2 weeks after coming home. In April 2009 Peaches got sick and lost 10 pounds in a week. I took her to the evet and she was diagnosed with IMT. They put her on all kinds of drugs and she didn't seem to get better. I then took her to see Dr. Couto and on May 1, 2009 Peaches was diagnosed with leukemia. On May 27, 2009 Peaches passed in her sleep. She was a trooper until the end, still walking up and down the stairs (we were there every step of the way). She would try to race us to the stairs so she could manuever them herself, but we were always right next to her. She was so so stubborn. We were discussing the possibility of having to put her down that week and I think she heard us and decided to go on her own terms. This next picture was taken the night before she passed. She is with her littermate Bobbie Socks. Peaches opened me up to the Greyhound world. I will be forever grateful to her and to Greyhounds Only for blessing me with such a wonderful first hound. She will always be my first love. I miss her so so much and the pain just doesn't seem to go away. I think about you all the time Peaches and I hope you are running free with all the wonderfully loved hounds.
  16. I got my newest boy on 8/16 and he finally doesn't have the clear the room smelly gas, took 2.5 months to get rid of it. Also got rid of the soft serve poop, it is firm all the time now. I think the two went hand in hand. I stayed the course on the food I was feeding him and all my other pups and it paid off. I was starting to think he had a grain issue and would have to do a special diet, but I'm hoping that is not the case and he will continue to be ok. One of my females, who is a littermate to this male, had the same issue when I got her in April and she if just fine and has been after about 2 months in the home.
  17. A friend of mine just got one for her hound and she said he is a new boy. He is not limping and he does not seem to want to get it off. I may get a couple just in case.
  18. My pup had it and it was not a big deal at all, just takes a minute to do. The full fledged bone marrow is what is painful. From my understanding the FNA is less invasive, so they would do that first before the full marrow sample.
  19. Sending prayers for Lexi. Hang in there. Dr. Couto is a wonderful man. I went thru a similar thing, same diagnosis on the IMT, but mine ended up being leukemia, which Dr. Couto diagnosed when the e-vet here misdiagnosed. I have a female with no spleen and my vet is going the titer route with her. I was never familiar with titering, so now that I understand it I'll probably titer all my pups going forward and only immunized when I have to.
  20. I just paid $90 for 40 pills, which is only 2.25 per pill (250 mg each) - and this is from the vet (suburb of chicago). Maybe the dosage has something to do with it.
  21. Hooray for Lily and her new family! She is a wonderful houndie, I got to meet her at the kennel a couple of weeks ago.
