Guest houndlover
One year ago today my foster dog, Bear, escaped from a volunteer while being transported to his new home but it feels like it just happened yesterday. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him and hope and pray that someday we will find him. The guilt of never finding him has never gone away either. I was supposed to protect him. He knew me, trusted me. I can't help but blame myself. I think of how scared he was being out in the world all by himself and it brings tears to my eyes. The pain never goes away......... I miss you so much Bear.

Fiona3
I am so sorry you never found Bear. My heart hurts for all those who have lost their greys and never had a conclusion to the search. Hugs to you and please know we understand how painful this is. Try to remember that you did everything humanly possible to bring him home. racindog
He knows you love and miss him. That's what I was going to say too. We can't know everything. Perhaps he was an angel with another "mission" that you were not to participate in. But he does know you love and miss him, is most grateful for everything you did to help him, and he loves you too. I'm sure he wouldn't want you feeling guilty over something you really had no control over.

CaliforniaGreys
Not having closure I know is torture, I am so sorry he wasn't found. It was one of the most heart wrenching searches. Wherever he is, may he have comfort and love and know how very much he is missed. You're fault? I think not!! Not a day goes by I don't think about him and say a prayer and I think of you as well. Guest ctgreylover
I hope the pain subsides. Please dont blame yourself. However, I DO understand its hard to allow yourself to let the pain ease and stop blaming yourself. I had a tragic expericne with a non grey foster. It was a different experience than yours but still tragic. It wasnt my fault either but I still cry.
