Hubcitypam Posted October 6, 2008 Share Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) In August 2006 the Garland Texas pound had a black "greyhound". No greyhound group would take him as he was too much of a mix. On the day he was to be killed in the gas chamber (yes, they are a gas pound) a woman bailed him out and contacted me to ask if I could hold on to him for a few days while she found him a home. Not too many people were lining up for an 8-10 year old mix that had been hit by a car and never treated, so he never left. Kenny was an amazing dog just in his joy for life. My vet said that his dislocated hip had basically carved out a new joint for itself, there was damage to both hips and his spinal cord, but he greeted every day with a bright smile and waggiing tail. Last week he just couldn't do it anymore. Something was seriously wrong with his bad leg that no pain meds could fix. It got worse after the vet visit Friday and this was the longest weekend of my life. Kenny Roo went to the bridge about an hour ago with a huge howl. Oh my Kenny -- the dog nobody wanted.
