Guest gr84me
Poor little guy, that he has to go through this! And poor you - just enough waiting time until surgery to get completely worked up. Brody and I added Scooter and you to our GH goodnight prayers, and we're sending lots of good wishes and thoughts for healing and peace from Michigan. silverfish
I've said this to you already, but I'm gonna say it again. Just my opinion, but if your vet wants to take the tear duct with it, I wouldn't let her. I honestly would ask for a referral to a specialist - they may be able to save it. Hugs all round and good thoughts, major mojo and prayers being sent Scooter's way! Hugs all round and good thoughts, major mojo and prayers being sent Scooter's way! I'm not sure what has actually been said, but I agree with Judy about an eye specialist. Our regular Vet did Dylan's surgery and he never even hinted that losing the tear duct was a possibility. Yet as soon as they took one look at JD's eye, they never even tried to treat him, just sent us to the Eye Dr. So they definitely understand what they are seeing in relation to what they can and cannot treat. Here is a picture of Dylan with his e-collar. You can just see a bit of red over his eye where the growth was removed. However, it is red only because a stitch irritated his eye and he rubbed it about a week after the actual surgery. Weirdo! He didn't wear a collar right after surgery because he didn't bother the eye at all. Anyway, I'm not sure where Dylan's was in relation to where Scooter's is, but I wouldn't be too happy with the duct removal. So anyway that's my 2 cents. And because I am sure there is a law about only posting one compromising picture of your dogs, here's JD, before surgery. And here he is after, sending good thoughts to Scootie!! Jennifer
Thank you all for your positive thoughts and prayers. As for the tear duct situation, my vet said that it "could" be effected not that it "would" be effected. It would depend on how large the affected area is when she gets in there. However you all have scared the crap out of me enough that I will be in touch with her today over the situation again. You'll get through this Scooter! And you too, Jennifer! Scooter, you and I will match - I had skin cancer removed from my eyebrow a few years ago - maybe if we ever do get the chance to meet, we could compare scars and wear matching eye patches. Sending good thoughts and healing energy. I would like that! Oh Jennifer, I just saw this. Give Scooter a big kiss for me. I will keep the both of you in my prayers. Guest jettcricket
Sending good thoughts to your little man. I know exactly what you are going thru.....Jett was diagnosed as having a possible mast cell tumor near his penis a few weeks ago. He had his surgery 11 days ago and thank God it came back benign. But like you, it's hard not to worry about our kids...we love them sooo much. Jett and I will say a prayer for your handsome boy and keeping our fingers/paws crossed for a good outcome. Guest Redpack
Sending positive thoughts your way. Weepy eye would be the least of your worries. Diplomat came to us with a plugged duct...not worth putting him under for according to our vet...people find it endearing because he rubs against them...they think he's hugging...I know he's wiping his eye....Praying it's just a little bump.
