greyhoundlov
My sweet Lil China Blue - so perfect other than chewing up my granddaughters' Barbie dolls. China, you were Freddie's lifeline when we brought this poor soul home. You taught him that it was OK to go for walks, to go visit other greyhounds, and to enjoy our bed. You loved our grandkids (actually, all kids). You enjoyed being invited back the dog track for special occasions to serve as official greeter/ ambassadog. You were a beautiful girl, physically, but you also had such a gentle and loving soul. We miss you so very much. We had you to the vets so many times because of your limp but they could never find anything, including the specialist. We will regret to our dying day that we were not able to help you and that you suffered with the osteo until it was too late. Please forgive us. I can't wait until I see you again.... Guest FullMetalFrank
Iberia was my heart dog, my first greyhound; I think of him nearly every day. In the years he's been gone it has gotten easier; but there will always be the painful memory of how I lost him. He was such a good, smart boy. I have pics of him but they are on the computer at my ex's house; he is in my avatar and siggy though. A very beautiful red fawn boy with a crooked tail; he lived to run. He would throw up a rooster tail of grass when he tore around the yard. He was so proud to walk along beside us; he loved us and we loved him. I will never forget you, 'Berie... greypuppyluv
Our 3 bridge angels, Chevy, Piper and Tinsel.........I miss them so much Chevy, the Cocker-mix, started it all. We wanted to get a friend for her, so we went to a greyhound show & tell and fell in love with the breed. A few months later, Tinsel joined our family......we adopted her in May 1993 (my birthday month) and she was the best birthday present I ever had . It took me years to convince my DH that we "needed" another dog, but he finally gave in and Piper, the whippet, came home with us. We lost Tinsel suddenly in Dec 2001 after surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. Piper followed Tinsel exactly 10 months later (to the day) in Oct 2002 also to cancer, and Chevy lost her battle with failing kidneys in Feb 2004. Not a day goes by that I don't think about them and the love we shared . Guest greytbookert
On Booker's 12th birthday! It's been less than a week since we had to let Booker go to play with all the other bridge kids. He lived a lot of life in his almost 14 years and I hope that his happiest were with us. I miss him chasing me around the house. I miss his chattering and smiles the most. Indy definitely changed our lives for the better. I treasure every memory we have and am so thankful we had the time we did. It wasn't enough but I also know no amount would have been. Jiffer
I haven't lost any houndies of my own, but I have suffered the heartbreak. In the last year, four beautiful angels from our walking group have left us: Zelda : FTK Zelda left us August 15, 05 Checker : ubetyourpaycheck left us in March 14, 06 Sullivan : Proper Tank left us in June 21, 06 Heidi : PW's Funtime left us in October 19, 06 It still hurts to remember them. Every GH I know is dear to me and each one we lose feels like I'm losing one of my own. I would also like to recognize dear Winnie who we lost just last week out at GRA. "C" is an evil disease! Guest pmutalik2000
Here are some pictures of my pups that are no longer with us. I will forever be in their debt for introducing me to some of the most wonderful people I have ever known. People that understand the joys that the pups bring us and the sorrow when they leave. Here is my first group. Skipper standing in the back, Annie sitting in front, Daisy to the left and Rufus to the right. Then came Isaac, he was huge weighed in at 108 lbs Then finally there was Sirocco, what a sweet girl she was Thanks Praveen.
Guest LuvXRacers
It was this year, August. I think of her many times throughout the day and sometimes I cry and sometimes I can laugh. She was the first dog I have had that when looking at me I felt she was looking into my soul, literally. And she is there today....in my heart and soul. I miss you so much Baby Girl. Guest PhillyPups
Runner [Cherokeesprinter 3/5/95-2/12/02] you were my first. You raced in, stole my heart and stomped your pawprints all over it. I will never get over the shock of standing there at the M&G at Tony Stewart's Tent for the Busch Series in Daytona, you were leaning against me, I was scritching your ears when you went to race in the wind, carrying my heart and soul in your paws. Such a proud greyhound you were. I love you my big brindle bubba boy. You taught me the wonders of the greyhounds, my life has never been the same. The Divine Ms. SugarBear, [JD's Proud Bear 3/4/89 - 6/12/03]you were my first senior, my failed foster, the keeper of the marshmallows. Your silent way stole a huge chunk of my heart. You introduced me to the wonderful world of the GoldenGreys. You taught me it is all about getting just one more marshmallow. You were returned to the group, they took your collar off and just left you there, nekked and alone. You and Runner had such an intense bond. I love you girlfriend, you taught me there is no grace or beauty like that of a GoldenGrey. You were always brave, but lost the battle to osteo. I will always have a senior female on my journey. My song to you both: Looking back on the memory of The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone For a moment all the world was right How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance Holding you I held everything For a moment wasn't I a king But if I'd only known how the king would fall Hey who's to say you know I might have chanced it all And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance Yes my life is better left to chance I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance Edited December 6, 2006 by PhillyPups

rycezmom
These are my favorites of my bridge babies altogether. Bo, on the right was our first. She got arrested frequently by the MP's at Lakenheath AFB in England for chasing the bunnies. After being brought home in the back of the MP's squad car in disgrace, the kids on base knew that there was a reward for bringing her home before the po-lice did. Ryce, in the middle, was my heart hound. I lost him in June and I miss him desparetly. He was my gentleman and diplomat. He picked me for his own and I belonged to him completely. My large fawn, Jim, was the big poodlehead of the bunch. He came for a sleepover one night and simply never went home. He was my 88 lb lap dog. He could put the whole front half of himself up in your lap and not one hair on him would be touching the furniture. These three babies of mine did everything together. Guest Snowy8
This elegant lady opened the door to adoption for me. She was 14 when she died from injuries during an attack with an akita. It was so difficult to open my heart & soul to another, but she reminded me that its not about ME...its about the greys who need love & a home. 10 days after she left me, I adopted Snowy....that was in April of 1999. I fell in love with this beauty in 2000...and later that year after my husband had died, December 18th...I found out he was up for adoption & I brought him home. Bool was his name & what a character. Three years later, he had to be put down due to a tumor on his kidney that was cancer, had ruptured. Brogan followed Bool to the bridge about 4 months later. I remember taking his chin, looking into those soft eyes & telling him I loved him. Racer decided in August that same year he was going with Bool & Brogan. He had a heart attack & died in my arms. Picadilly was 13 when we rescued him. His family no longer wanted him & called & asked us to come get him. What was not to love about this guy. I only had him 4 months before he crossed the bridge. Not only did he leave paw prints in the snow, but on my heart too. My little non-grey friend Boner... Its only been 3 months since this guy left me. I still think of him every single day & I cry every single time I think of him. I told my friend Cynde that Pegasus would've been the ONE that would not understand why I was gone for a month after knee surgery.
