  3. I am so sorry Diane, she was beautiful
  4. Well, that's an awesome update! I hope he continues to feel great, and it's not the bad C. I don't know if you said how old he is? I just wondered, because my old girl developed spinal problems that sound a lot like what you described from the second x-rays. Basically, some of her vertebrae had lost most of their "cushion" and the bones would rub together or pinch a nerve. Hers was in her lower spine/hip area, and the pain would come and go, but sometimes it would be so bad she couldn't stand or walk. If this turns out to be what Power has (or something similar), acupuncture was a huge help for her. If the worst happens, acupuncture is still helpful for pain control.
  5. I am so sorry, so young

I am so sorry what a wonderful picture!
  7. My old girl was on Enalapril and Lasix for heart problems, and both were very helpful without side effects. Chase
  8. 14 years is a good long life, but it is never long enough
  9. Mine haven't been reluctant to eat the new formula (once they made it softer!), but I have changed Fletcher to Dasaquin, to get the higher glucosamine amounts.
  10. Welcome handsome Harold! You just hit the jackpot
  11. I'm sorry you didn't get a clear answer, but on the up side, there's still hope it's not osteo! I think the tests you have planned are a good next step.
  12. He had a full thyroid done in March (no change), and a chest x-ray that was read by a radiologist who said "large, but typical greyhound heart". I had another dog with heart problems that we discovered because of her panting, so I did think of that, but this panting seems different. I really thought it was going to be LP, but two different vets have said "no" to that.
  13. I had no idea, I thought MSM was pretty harmless! Thanks for letting us know, I was thinking of adding it to Fletcher's supplements for his arthritis. I wonder what else it shouldn't be mixed with.
  14. I am so sorry, my bunny lived to be 8 1/2, 13 is remarkable
  15. The Previcox is out. I am going to call my vet later and ask if she wants it back (she gave me a sample, the pills are in blister packs, so it could be used by someone else). Right now, he is getting Dasaquin (was on Joint Health), Fresh Factors, milk thistle for supplements. The combo of meds that seems to work best (but not perfect) is metacam in the morning and two tramadol at night. He is also taking an antihistamine, which I am going to try to cut back on. (oh, and soloxine) I am open to trying some other supplements, just need to research what to give. I am also thinking about acupuncture, it really helped my old girl when her arthritis got bad. One reason for going to a specialist was to make sure nothing else was going on. Now that I know we are primarily dealing with arthritis, I have options to try.
  16. I hope Merlin is better today! Fletcher's IBD isn't as severe as some on GT, but I have found the Manuka honey very helpful in managing flare-ups, especially if I catch it early. As for causes sometimes I can pinpoint a cause, sometimes I have no idea, although stress and deviation from routine are two pretty common culprits.
  17. Otis is gorgeous! His coat reminds me of an Abyssinian cat http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gustav_chocolate.jpg
  18. When Molly was diagnosed with hooks, vet suggested we test Fletcher (only other dog at the time), but he was "clean" so he didn't get meds. I think most people here have given a second round, but we didn't, and it's been three years, no reoccurance. I don't believe they can be seen. edited to add, she was retested after the first round and came up hook-free.
