  1. cautiously optimistic about what the vet has learned so far! it would be nice to know what happened, but hopefully, they won't find anything serious
  2. Fletcher has been on 100% raw for years because of his IBD, but in an attempt to save some money and time, I have been feeding the girls half raw/half kibble for a few years. Never had any problems until recently, when I opened a new bag and Sallie immediately got the runs. I didn't connect it with the food right away, because Molly was fine, but after a couple of days the penny dropped, and I took Sallie off the kibble and she improved immediately. I know big companies "tweak" their formulas all the time, depending on available resources, maybe your company changed something as well? It doesn't necessarily mean they are a bad company, but I am sure they would want to know about what happened. I would take the girls off kibble if Molly didn't like hers so much I may still do it, haven't decided.
  3. Canned salmon, mackerel, sardines (especially in tomato sauce) all go over well here (Molly will hop on her back legs to try and get at her dish if she smells canned salmon!) but I got the same reaction when I tried whole fish lol
  4. I am so sorry, she was a beautiful cat
  5. Fletcher has one like that on his hip, been there 2-3 years, benign. With Zuri's changing in size, I think going ahead and taking it off when he has his dental is a good idea.
  6. well, very, very good that it is not OS it is always a little frustrating and worrisome when they scratch their heads and say I've never seen anything like this before (especially when its the experts!) still, lots of hope that it will be alright in the end. Glad he is a little better this morning and you both got some rest. You must be exhausted!
  7. I understand about being :vet-poor", but as has been said, if it is a manageable you would want to know that!
  8. hoping for a good report! I know the fear of trying to lift/move a big dog by yourself (the strength will come) and the anguish of watching them in pain and not being able to fix it
  9. I am so sorry she does sound perfect

I am so sorry, that was so fast
  11. Some dogs have a bad reaction to Rimadyl, but most take it with no problems. If they are going to be on it long term (Fletcher has been on it about 1 1/2 yrs) you need to do bloodwork to check liver values every so often. All Nsaids have the potential for side effects, you just have to see how your dog reacts. Some people use ACE with their greyhounds with no problem, but I have heard of a lot more who had bad reactions, including my Fletcher. If she is staying quiet, I wouldn't give her the ACE. If she needs to be calmed down, I would start with maybe a half dose, unless you are sure your vet is very familiar with greyhounds.
  12. My Sugar was on it for about a year. It seemed to really help her, but she passed from acute kidney failure. She was on a ton of meds, the cumulative side effect(s) may have done her kidneys in, over time. She was 12 1/2
  13. Maybe she is getting another corn? I hope it is something simple!
  14. Fletcher did not have a problem with the heat when he was younger, but as he has gotten older, he has become more heat intolerant. Each year he gets a little worse (starts reacting at lower temps). Extensive blood work has ruled out anything to cause it, just seems to be an "old dog" thing. He does have arthritis which has also gotten worse as he gets older, but I don't see a connection. Right now, it is #%@*&^*$ freezing here, and he is fine We stopped walking when it hit the low 70's last year, will see how he does this spring. BTW, he will be 11 in March, has been an AZ dog his whole life.
  15. I am so sorry! I lost my first grey to acute kidney failure, she was gone in one week.
  16. I get my harnesses from 2houndsdesign. They carry the wiggles wags and whiskers harness, perfect for greyhounds.
