    Cara

I'm so sorry for your loss. Godspeed, beautiful Cara.
  2. I still fed raw when Colin started to loose liver function. But I changed his diet a little. You have to watch for phosphorus levels - so no more chicken, organs and no more bones. But fat beef, lamb and green tripe. You might like to look into solidago compositum, ubichinon compositum and coenzym compositum (suc-therapy).
  3. Ten years ago on this day I adopted my very first own greyhound. I'd like to share the story as I never wrote a real tribute to this wonderful dog. In 2007 I decided I wanted my own dog. But it had to be a nice and gentle dog that could accompany me to my work in a group home. It was the time sighthound rescues from other European countries became more and more active in Germany. My mother told me to look for a greyhound. She is a trainer - but has standard poodles in search and rescue. So I searched the net and found this small rescue group. We talked on the phone and I drove 4 hours one way just to look at the greyhounds. All of them were nice and friendly and I was addicted. But the coordinator told me that they did not have a grey for me. I was so disappointed. Three weeks later I got a call. They had the perfect fit if I was still interested? Of course I was. The next week-end I drove again nearly through the whole country to fetch a dog I had never seen. And Iwas so prepared. I has read every piece of paper and every articles in the net about greyhounds. I knew everything there is to know.... ...and Colin was he one greyhound that doesn't exist. He was not keen on hunting and could walk off lead after 3 weeks. He was soft and friendly and always wanted to cuddle.... and he was a master manipulator. Colin used to block my way when he didn't want me to walk to a room - but he was so sweet and leaning about it. I needed years to understand his tactic. He loved to bark and was a fierce protector of his mom and his home. He thrieved when I brought him minions (Andy and Paddy). Colin was until his last day the unquestioned leader of my pack of 3. He liked me but his love belonged to his dad whom he chose after I broke up with my ex. Hubby was a friend but through his love for Colin we spent more time together and fell in love. Today is not a day to grief but to celebrate a life lived to the fullest. Today would have marked 10 years together. Colin left for the bridge last month. Godspeed my friend. You will never be forgotten. This is the last picture of us. Thank you for reading this lengthy piece of word.
  4. I believe in cold laser treatment and laser accupuncture. And I believe in msm and hypericum against the inflammation and pain.
  5. She is absolutely adorable. Congrats to your family's new addition. And welcome to the world of the crazy greyhound people.😁
  6. You can train her on a long line with a harness. This way walking is combined with mental stimulation. But you need an area where you can walk undistracted - at least in the beginning.
  7. Thank you for adding my beautiful boy.
  8. I'm so sorry for your loss. I can feel your love for her through your words.
  9. Welcome Deacon. What a stunning boy. The ladies in your home must be delighted.
  10. Congrats - what a beautiful boy. And how nice of you take him after so unfortunately losing his home.
  11. I'm so very sorry. And your tribute is (as always) so very beautiful that it brings tears to my eyes. Run free, Bosco.
  12. Colin left for the lands on the other side of the rainbow bridge. He was my first greyhound and so nothing like all those things I had learned about them. Fierce protector, Sir Barkalot, Mr. I Don't Need No Stinking Coat. Godspeed my beautiful boy. Mom will always Love you.
  13. I don't know about dried carrots but with fresh ones you cook them for about 1 hour (500g carrots/ 1l water). Then you put them through a strainer and then add water until the whole thing is 1 litre again. In the end add a small teaspoon of salt. Perhaps this can help you.
  14. Welcome from Germany. What a wonderful idea to adopt not only 1 but 2 pups. Congrats.
  15. Welcome to our crazy world of greyhound fanatics. Bebe is a gorgeous little lady πŸ’–
  16. How old she? In my experience doing loads of those nonsense stuff often is the result of boredom, or just plain curiosity - especially when young. Try some exercises for her little, too clever for her own good brain that include some really fancy treaties. If it is a nutritient related issue you can start feeding green tripe once or twice the week. That stopped my boy Andy from eating poop.
  17. Congrats. You got yourself one cute little girl. Panda (love the name, by the way) is absolutely gorgeous.
  18. Chiropractor - sounds like he has cramped muscles or a blockade due to moving the wrong way. And ask the vet to cut the nail on the dislocated toe really really short. This way he will walk in it more painfree because the nail won't touch the ground. Cuddles and wishes for a speedy recovery. Edited due to my eternal fight with auto correct.
  19. Congrats. Welcome to your new worldwide family. πŸ˜‰ And now - all of us are waiting for pictures....please.πŸ˜„
  20. First thing I thought was disc blockade. Andy had his atlas blocked some time ago. Every movement hurt - 2 minutes with the wonderful Marina, his physiotherapist and he was fine.
  21. ...and a worldwide family.Congrats. And welcome from Germany. Bentley is a beautiful boy. Ask all the question - we will have dozens of different answers to choose from. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜
  22. Stress. It is his way to work through all the changes you put him through and his body reacted with diarrhoea to it. He will calm down. You need time and patience and to put everything interesting out of reach. And the others are right. He is still a baby. And a picture would be nice.... if he keeps still long enough for you to take one.
  23. I was attacked by a dog when I was maybe 17 years old. My dog and I walked down the street and a foxterrier came running, jumped at me and bit into my arm (took a piece with him when gravity kicked in). After that incident I was afraid of loose dogs - in a subconscious way and my dog reacted to my fear. I took a course with a trainer who trains k9 for the police and learned to react to an attack, to stand a fighting chance against an attacking dog (It involved a 40 kg sack stuffed with sand in form of a german shepherd and loads of sore muscles) and it helped me to gain back my confidence. Maybe you could find something like that in your area. And you can put the rescue remedy in his water bowl when you are not at home to give it to him 4 times a day.
  24. After reading your post I'm a little so tried that you are maybe overthinking the situation. Try to be open minded and don't compare her to Ace. She is an individual with her own agenda and her own problems. All greys are different. Gives her time and patience. Her world is turned upside down. She will need time to learn the roles of your household. Have fun with your new companion.
