  1. So sorry you lost your greyt baby. Godspeed Ginny.
  2. Such loving companions. Funny how Fencetop liked to have a paw resting on Mary. So sweet.
  3. Django has gone on a food strike for better rations, it seems. I've changed up the kibble, put on every kind of extra topping, sardines, cheese, sour cream, all things that have worked before. He doesn't even come out for meals despite hearing his brother clanging away in the kitchen eating his stuff. People food, now that's a different story, so I don't think he has a medical issue. He had a complete work up late this fall for a dental, and all was good. He is 11, but in fighting form, and is energetic as always. How do I draw the line in the sand? He's of normal weight so I suppose could go a few days without eating but I haven't had the courage. Advice?
  4. Hi Michelle - I lurked for years before I was in a position to adopt a grey, too! May I suggest if you have time, drop by Petsmart Chinook saturday afternoon and meet some greys. SAGA has a meet and greet every week. Also, you could come for a walk with the Calgary Greyhound Walking Club (occasional Sundays) sometime, and chat to owners and meet 20 or so dogs!
  5. You can use a syringe to feed her although there is a remote chance of choking. I'm only suggesting this as she has not "given up" and needs sustenance. You can also try putting her on mertazapine (sp?) which has a side effect of appetite stimulation or so they say. If she's not ready, I would buy her a little more time. Best of luck. It's never pretty... There are large syringes available for this purpose and I used to water down the k/d food so it was injectable. And then when it was time, it was time...
  6. I was sickened to read this. My thoughts are with you in this terrible time.
  7. Congratulations! He looks like a character. New man...snort...that was guaranteed to bring us in...been wondering where you've been...
  8. Such a sweet face! Don't know anything about the disorder but wish you both well.
  9. Congratulations on nurturing a hound to almost 15 years old! I look forward to seeing a pic of her if you can manage it.
  10. I would advise daily teeth brushing to keep the hound's gums healthy. Inflammation and infection anywhere in the body can have other effects upon the health of the creature, and that goes for us people too!
  11. Welcome from Calgary, Canada!
  12. Beautifully written tribute. He was a very handsome hound. God speed Pippin and best wishes to you.
  13. Glad it wasn't as bad as it originally seemed. Now everybody just has to fight off the various cooties!
  14. Very sorry for the loss of your elegant girl. You wrote a lovely tribute.
  15. No advice, just best wishes to you and your girlie.
