  1. I keep a sprayer bottle full of water in the fridge and spritz mine off regulary. They didn't like it at first, but now are fine with it. We also have lots of fans...one in every room....and they do appreciate them!
  2. I am very sorry for the loss of your Boy. Remember the good times.....
  3. Please give my heartfelt condolences to Dorothy and her family, as well as all the staff and volunteers at the kennel. Nancy
  4. So sorry for the loss of Spirit. What a beauty! Please give my condolences to her family.
  5. Stitching will be a bit tricky on a leg...probably too late anyway. I agree with keeping it open to the air...if he's not licking it. I use Colloidal Silver gel quite a bit....I have some with aloe in it. I put it on Ruby's ear and Nixon's nasty wound that he had on his side....they both healed up quickly. We sell it at the Tack Shop in various forms. Traumeel cream is another that I always have on hand....I use it mostly for heat/swelling. You can get it OTC here...I find it at the grocery store! Derma Gel is also another good one...I've used it on horses more than dogs. It really helps to minimize scarring. Here in Ontario you have to get it from the vet....Perhaps one of your 'horse friends' has some.

    Rip Jim

I am so very sorry for the sudden loss of your Jim.
  7. So sorry for the loss of your 'Bad Boy'. Remember the fun you had....
  8. Nixon is totally bomb-proof. He's been a Therapy Dog for over a year, and last weekend passed the gruelling 'Children's Test'. Here's the link. I can also vacuum beside, under and on top of Nixon. Ruby is really good, too. I've had her to the old folks home for 'musical entertainment' evenings and she's been known to punk herself down for a nap on the hardwood dance floor with old peeps stepping over her. She's not crazy about the vacuum, though. Nigel is a good boy, too. We've only had him for 5 months and he hasn't been as many places as the other two. He's fine with the vacuum, although I don't think I could run it across his body like I can with Nixon! None have any issues with loud noises or thunder storms. All three are blood donars and just lay flat out and nap during that procedure. They just got asked to donate this weekend...there's a shortage of 'negative' blood.
  9. I keep a spray bottle in the fridge and use it to frequently mist the dogs down on the really hot days. I also have some of those little 'neck coolers' that you wet down with cold water. Pools are also a really good way to keep them cool. BillieJean our Bridge GSD loved her pool. Nixon hates it. Not sure about Ruby & Nigel. Hope Jack's appointment goes well.
  10. Thank you so much for sharing Toby's story. You have had a tough few months.
  11. I also followed Crystal's journey to your home and I am so sorry for her loss. The important thing is that she knew how much she was loved when she left. Run free Crystal....
  12. So very sorry for the loss of your Toby. Remember the good times....
  13. We've had 4' chain link for 19 years along our driveway and have never had any dog jump out. We've had 3 Dobes, a GSD,a PointerX, a Springer, and now the Greys. We have 5', welded 2"x4" wire mesh along the back and side yards. We've never had an issue with snow pushing either type of fencing over. We are very rural and do not require privacy fencing.
  14. I would not feed food that smelled 'off' to my dogs.
  15. So very sorry for the loss of two well-loved hounds.
