  1. Mary many positive thoughts and prayers going to you, the family and especially Fiona. So glad that she is home with the family and all that TLC we know she will receive from the family. I know that this has been a roller coast ride for the family since Tasha went to the bridge. Sending love and hugs and kisses for Fiona.
  2. We also do the acana ranchlands and I swear by it. All three of our pups do very well on it with poops firm and rolling down the hill. At this point I don't care what acana charges as long as it keeps working. I do know they are on the higher priced end.
  3. I am so glad you posted this. Like you I need some advice and I too want to do it right!
  4. Perhaps go on their website so you can contact Honest Kitchen directly as I am sure u will get a response.
  5. Robin, thoughts of you on these anniversaries. Sending hugs................
  6. I have seniors so no more vaccinations. Rabies - I had a titer done instead of the vaccination. We do not board them or have them groomed so we are OK not vaccinating.
  7. I am glad you brought this up because I have been wondering the same thing.

    Jet

Trudy and Jeff, I am so sorry. No words to comfort you but know we are thinking of you and the void in the house. Godspeed Jet and may the wind always be at your back.
  9. To me 20 mg is not a large dosage. My Brandi was on pred for 7 years. I did not see the increase in thirst for water but she always had to pee and there were several accidents in the house. I think the first day she was on the pred I noticed the frequent urgency to pee right away. She started off on 60 mg and eventually was weaned down to 20 mg every other day. Just be sure to keep check on her values such as the liver and kidney. She went into acupuncture every three weeks and my holistic vet really thinks having the acupuncture done helped keep in values in check. When she crossed over to the bridge her liver and kidney values still looked good.
  10. Oh no Robin. I am so sorry! Godspeed Treasure and may the wind always be at your back. You were well loved. Sending you hugs!
  11. This is WONDERFUL news and we are so happy for all of you. Knowing you Cinco and Aiden have their forever homes
  12. Check out www.pawflex.com We keep the pawflex bandages on hand for those little accidents such as a broken nail or a tear on the leg. Look on the website, scroll down on the home page until you see Mariah's story. I have no vested interest in this company but I was so happy that they posted her story and how well the bandages work for her.
  13. We use pawflex bandages www.pawflex.com and they are better than a sock and they stay on without any problem. We clean with hydrogen per. and then use Manuka Wound Honey - works great.
  14. Could you please add two more. Our greyhound group lost two this month. The guardians were not part of GT Bliss Molly Pal Thank you.
  15. Jan, there are no words I can find to comfort you. We are all so sorry. Thank doG she found you and had a wonderful but short stay with you. She knew she had her forever home. Godspeed Gracie and may the wind always be at your back.
  16. Yes Isabelle has one and it works for her.
  17. Thank doG it is looking clear and he has one more treatment.
  18. Just got my new issue of Animal Wellness and on page 80 there is an article about a new cancer vaccine. Specialists from Veterinary Specialty Center of the Hudson Valley in New York are conducting a pilot study with a cancer vacine that may prolong survival in dogs with osteosarcoma. No placebos are involved and the study us unfunded.
  19. Robin, so sorry to hear that Treasure has lost weight. This is what worked for me when I needed to put weight on Brandi. I started doing three meals a day like a lunch if your time schedule permits this. Also added pasta to the regular food, also add cooked oatmeal, cooked sweet potatoe (great source and minus the starch like a white potato). Good luck!
  20. Same here I was a weenie. Adequan worked for my big afghan.
  21. Buy it from Claudia at the greyhound gang www.greyhoundgang.org. 100% of the proceeds goes to the gh's.
  22. I will tell you what worked for us. Use what you want and toss the rest. My gh at age 3.5 stared stumbling and a few days later was paralyzed (she came from the Mexico track). She was hospitalized for about 10 days, lost 20 lbs of muscle mass as she was a huge girl. This was in 2004. Ran every test we could think of and the vets never had a diagnosis. They thought it was some virus that she picked up at the Mexico track and it was in her spine. Slowly she started walking again (the muscle mass never came back), weak, had her on heavy prednisone and antibiotic's. She stayed on prednisone the rest of her life and lived 7 more years. Slowly we were able to reduce the dosage of the prednisone. Yes I know how bad prednisone is but we felt it was necessary. What I think saved her was the holistic vet appts. First we started on a weekly basis with acupuncture and chiro, finally got to a point it was every three weeks for the rest of her life. If you take anything away from my rambling on...........it may not be as bad as it seems and perhaps consider holistic care along with the traditional western medicine. She never fully recovered but she lived a pain free life with small walks, was always weak in the hind legs. There is HOPE for your pup! At age 10 we said good bye because the day came when she just could not get up.
  23. I wish my pack had realized that my old afghan was nearly blind and deaf. Even though we left a light in the living room the older afghan would sometimes step on one of my greys and the grey would snap at her. Think it all depends on the pack.
  24. I agree with Chad. I am also a placement rep for our group. We always deliver gh's on a Sat so you have the weekend to make adjustments and then Monday your routine begins. They will get used to your schedule quite well. Good luck!
