  1. Have you had a chance to see my previous reply in regards to prolotherapy with a holistic vet. It might be an option. It certainly improved the quality of life in my grey and also a friend of mine with her dog. Wish you the best!
  2. I recently replied to someone on the list letting them know my grey has received prolotherapy. Curious if anyone else has used this therapy for their dog and what were the results. Would you recommend it and did it work?
  3. Several years ago my Brandi started limping and we did all sorts of PT including swimming in a heated pool but none of it worked. She could only walk down the driveway (on a leash of course) a little ways and then we had to turn around. Broke my heart as she loves her walks. The holistic vet suggested prolotherapy (www.getprolo.com) as he had it done on his knee. There were a series of 6 injections with a long needle. After one injection we saw an improvement but we continued on with the other series. Never had another problem. I think it is worth talking to a holistic vet. Our best to all of you!
  4. Pure pumpkin mixed into boiled skinless/boneless chicken and white rice should help. It has helped my dogs with the D. I also keep on hand Blue Heron which I get from Marina at Natural Rearing out of Oregon www.naturalrearing.com. It has really helped for the D. Do you have a holistic vet in your area that might be open? That vet might have something in stock to help right away.
  5. Oh yeah! Been through it twice. They do just fine without the tail. We have snow where we live so Brandi's amputated tail gets a little cold in the winter when she goes potty so we made a tail coat (her tail sticks into the ground when she potties). Happy thoughts go your way. Everything will turn out just fine!
  6. Sydney is beautiful. What greyhound isn't!!!! Thanks for sharing.
  7. I was totally surprised with the Kirland rating. I love Costco but never thought about buying the dog food there. I also buy the Life Abundance through Healthly Pet for my non-greyhound dogs. I give my grey The Honest Kitchen, Kean (dehydrated). I usually have a $5.00 coupon for The Honest Kitchen product plus I get a 10% discount at a high quality pet food store because of my involvement in greyhound rescue. I like the idea that someone mentioned making a copy of this rating for the adoption families. I am a placement rep for our local greyhound rescue and am always being asked what should I feed my grey. Thank you for the tips and product information.
  8. What a beautiful girl. How lucky she was to be able to spend those senior years with all of you. Thank you for sharing those beautiful pictures. Thoughts and prayers to all of you.
  9. Rainey, you are a stinker. Hugs, kisses and prayers of course to Rainey, mom and dad.
  10. We send hugs and kisses to you and Tucker. Good thoughts and prayers all the way around.
  11. I am so sorry to hear about the weak rear legs. My grey, Brandi, five years ago got weak rear legs but she had only been off the track for about 6 months. Took her to holistic vet right away and he did the acupuncture/chiro and she has been on supplements ever since. They don't know why her legs were weak. Think something neurological went wrong. I think the acupuncture will keep your grey walking. Also prednisone has helped. We wish you the best.
