Same thing here with my 12 1/2 y.o. back legs shake when standing but she can still leap on the sofa. We do once a month maintenance with acupuncture. To me this is normal as they age.
Wishing the very best with this procedure. We did surgery and we would never do it again. My pup was bedridden for mos and we had to carry her outside to go potty. We have the therapaw boot crushy pad boot and she no long limps on her corns.
We thought our gh had the beginning of kidney disease and I joined a yahoo group called K9kidney(s). Check with them they can recommend some diets and other medical stuff. Wealth of information on that site.
I would highly recommend joining a yahoo group. I think it is K9kidneys yahoo group. You can google them When I thought our dog had kidney disease I found this group. I think they have about 4,000 members and they were a wealth of information. It certainly can not hurt to search them out. I found the moderators very professional and they knew a lot about kidney disease (more than my vet).
We have been through this also. The muscles are so weak sometimes they do not feel the poop coming out. We never said anything either just clean it up. It happens. Hey I will be there some day and I hope no one ever says anything to me but just cleans it up.
As everyone has mentioned it is a tough decison and we try and live by "better a day too early than a day too late". In 2011 it was my vet who told me that I should let Brandi go and I trusted him with my heart but I was blind sort of. I knew the vet was right. It might help to get a second opinion from a friend who knows and sees your dog. In 2012 when Lexi was failing I tried tell my husband that we needed to let her go but he would not do it so we asked the dog sitter to tell us through her eyes what she saw every day when she came at lunch to let the dogs out. It was a wake up call for my husband and he let Lexi go.
Hey Batmom - thanks. I was thinking the taste was so bad that I would not be able to do powder. My poor girl, Isabelle, is on so many meds right now I hated to think about putting something else down her throat.
Does anyone know where I can purchase the capsules. My vet will not give it to me. I don't want to buy the powder and put it in capsules - call me lazy - but if that is my only option I certainly will buy powder. Thanks.
Oh my gosh I am so sorry to hear this and we all look forward to a positive note from the vet. I can only imagine how scary this must but for you, hubby and your senior. Hopefully it is only a bruise and will heal soon.
Thanks. Last night I did a crock pot with squash, sweet potatoe and chicken breasts (boneless and skinless) as a topper to their kibble. My 12 y,.o. is getting picky but she gobbled up the food last night.
Exactly how us humans at the house like it
What a horrible shock and experience to expect the call to pick him up and hear something else. I am so very very sorry and wish there were words to comfort you. Godspeed Oberon and may the wind always be at your back.
I just started the pups on Nordic Naturals but I got the capsules but next time I will order their fish oil as the pups will not eat the capsule in their food. I have to prick the capsule and of course it squirts even though it is in their dog dish.
