  16. Holding Bruiser and you in my thoughts and prayers. I went through this same thing in December. My girl is still here, doing well, and I was more than positive that I would lose her that day. I am praying that you have the same good result I have had. They are likely to tell you that the large mass could be a blood clot and that you actually do want to hear that. Believe them. Thanks to everyone on here who had gone through the same thing, I was somewhat calmer (I am hopelessly NOT calm when my girl is in trouble). As the day wore on, the news began to sound like the surgery would work and she would come out the other side without a spleen which is a very do-able option. Bruiser, you are so cute I could kiss you.
  17. I would second the homecare vet option. I have had this option for the last 8 years, not because of any fear on the part of my dogs, but because I got a great vet who I already knew and it is easier on the dogs to have things taken care of at home. A quick Google search turned up the following: http://www.athomevet.net/ http://www.ahousecallvet.com/about.html I am sure there are more. For me, the price is less than $25 higher than an office visit which is fine because of the local transportation charges that I no longer have to pay. For emergencies, we go to an amazing ER that is 26 blocks from home so just a short ride. Good luck. Your girl is very lucky to have found you (and you, her).
