  1. Good to hear she is feeling better!
  2. My first two girls couldn't do canned food so I haven't even tried with Aquitaine. Both Scarlett and Morgaine got the explosive poops from canned food. Morgaine also couldn't eat turkey (I found out the hard way) for the same reason. Pepto Bismol does help.
  3. Crossing fingers that it is nothing but a big ugly bump. Prayers for you both.
  4. Sending prayers and good thoughts. Let us know how everyone is doing.
  5. Too new to PM but would be glad to fill out the questionnaire. I lost my second girl Morgaine to Status Epilepticus. As my vet explained it (and my Dr. best friend concurred) she experienced an initial seizure that never stopped. My walker found her, called me and with help we got her to the emergency hospital where she lost her fight. My own vet explained to me that what happened to her is similar to aneurysms where you hear that someone just suddenly dropped dead. She was a happy, healthy girl right up until the moment the seizure took her. Anything that I can do to help another grey to avoid this, I'm happy to do.
  6. So happy to hear that Design is home and doing well. Those horrible collars do upset them. There is a new one out there that I saw because my neighbors have it and loaned it to me. The best description I can think of is that it looks like a flat life preserver. It is soft and they can lay down with no problem.
  7. Emmy will make it through this because she has you there to map out the way for her. One of my step-IGs was born deaf and then went blind overnight one Christmas. It bothered all of us but she was pretty okay with it. Her sister had always looked out for her because of her deafness and she just kicked it up a notch when she lost her sight. We have several years of photos showing us with alien pregnancies (she liked to crawl inside your top) and sometimes with her head peeking out the neckline. Emmy will need more closeness but talk to her, help her learn and this will just be a new part of life for all of you.
  8. My hounds have all been big grass lovers. They've never gotten sick so I don't worry about it. Scarlett loved to eat oak saplings. She must have eaten a forest's worth in her 19 years!
  9. Such wonderful news. That is a beautiful picture of her. I love her "ghosty" white face. Please give her a big kiss!
  10. I can only say what everyone else has said. Kiss your boy, know that he truly loves you and is loved by you. Sending prayers and hugs your way.
  11. I hate Osteosarcoma. It hit my girl a few months before she turned 19 and it caused her pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
  12. Festus knows he is adored...he's doing his very bestest not to mess with that. You are an amazing mom!
  13. Thank you both! This scratch isn't on her eyeball. For that I would have stayed home today and had the vet come over to the apartment the very first moment he had! Her walker says it looks fine, just the little bit of red that I saw. She thinks that maybe she was stung by one of the multitude of gnats in the park by my house. My vet knows me really well, he has seen me through letting go of my 19 year old greygirl and the loss by stroke of my last greygirl. He knows that I will call him for any and everything!!! I'm usually calm, having shown and bred dogs since I was a kid but the losses really knocked me for a loop with those two. I came home from a dog show once when I was a kid and had fallen in love with a Great Dane and my vet very bluntly told me that I could never have one, they don't live long enough and I would be hysterical. I do tend to lose it when my angels leave me.
  14. Sending good thoughts and hugs your way from New York City.
  15. Does anyone have any experience with eyelid scratches (and how to deal with them)? Last night on our walk something seemed to bother Aquitaine and she started to scratch her eye with her paw. I stopped her and then ran my hand over her eye in case there was a goopy she was trying to remove. I didn't find anything and she didn't show any pain. This morning her eyelid is pink. I ran my hand over it and again, no pain. I emailed my vet and he said if she was showing discomfort he should see her. He is home care so he can go over there today if need be. I've asked her walker to let me know if it seems to have gotten worse or if it bothers her. I can call Dr. Andy to go over there this afternoon if he needs to. If it is just a scratch, has anyone dealt with this before and is there anything you did/can do for the hound? Thanks for any idea/suggestion.
  16. It is hard to let them go, my heart is aching for you. You have put so much love into these babies. That is what is going to keep you strong. I send hugs and Aquitaine sends snuggles and roos.
