  2. That makes my day to read that! I feel like he breathed on me too.

  4. Praying for Hurleys quick recovery! Just the thought of GDV upsets me terribly as I lost my soulmate Slim to this when he was only 6. He coded twice after the surgery. They revived him once; the 2nd time he got DIC and crossed over.
  5. I'm a mother hen about the hounds. If it was me I'd call them. Pale gums concern me-shock etc? Check his capillary response time. Make a white spot on his gums with your fingernail and the color should fill back in almost immediately. Can't be too careful. Nothing wrong with being overprotective! Just my opinion.
  6. Such love and wisdom- you can see it in those eyes. It jumps out at you. Thank you for sharing. Even now she continues to spread love- the most important thing in the universe.
  7. Happy Birthday Mesa Man! You will never be forgotten! Hugs to all.

  12. So very very sorry. Yes, he took a part of your heart with him. But don't forget he left a piece of his heart in you. What you said reminded me of this verse I learned when Ivy crossed over: "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you." Philippians 1:3 I hope it brings you comfort as it does me. Almost nineteen wonderful years. Heart dogs are uniquely special. His love will be with you always.
  13. This is what I have learned. First, never forget that it is the highest act of love- the most loving thing that you can do-willingly accepting the pain of such a decision onto yourself, because it is best for your beloved. Your hound knows that too. 2nd: whether you realize it or not, it is not the end-only the body will die-the spirit- the real dog- what you fell in love with- will cross over. Actually there is quite a bit in the Bible about such things. One of my favorite references is Revelation 5:11-13 where it speaks of the animals in heaven praising the Lord. Regarding your other hound, he will know what has happenned to his brother whether you let them be together as the first one crosses over or not. Personally I think he has the right to be there and I would allow him to be if he wanted to. Our dogs are sometimes more understanding of what is going on than we are for various reasons. Continue to be focused on love as you are now, be as open minded about it as you can(realize you might not understand everything that is going on correctly), and love will see you through this excruciatingly painful experience. This has just been my experience and I hope it helps. I seen this posted before and it helps me: WE ARE NOT EARTH BEINGS GOING THROUGH A TEMPORARY SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE. WE ARE SPIRITUAL BEINGS GOING THROUGH A TEMPORARY EARTH EXPERIENCE. And never forget you will ALWAYS have each others love: For love is as strong as death…. Many waters cannot quench love, Nor can the floods drown it. Song of Solomon 8:6-7 I will be praying for you as you go through this-may God bless you and give you strength. Acting out of such deep love is the most anyone can ever do.
  14. My deepest sympathy. I'm so very sorry.
