  1. Shane is doing the same thing, so you have my every sympathy. (Except Shane is doing it every 15 to 30 minutes all night.) Any update from the vet visit?
  2. It's clear that this has been an especially devastating loss, and I'm so very sorry.
  3. Carl's is a wonderful and amazing story! He was clearly meant to come to your home, and it turned out brilliantly. I'm so very, very sorry he had to leave.
  4. I'd worry about lowering her blood pressure unnecessarily using that medicine. Her kidney values are normal for a greyhound. Creatinine runs higher in greyhounds because of the high ratio of muscle to fat in their bodies. We have a greyhound with kidney issues at our house, which developed after an extended UTI. If the urine specific gravity is normal, there's probably not any problem. But I don't see that test listed on your printout.
  5. If it's SIBO, you may need to do a fecal culture-and-sensitivity to figure out what bacterium it is at fault and what anti-b will kill it. Been there, done that.
  6. WeGa've had two LS dogs. She may have strained the front leg in trying to pull herself upright without help from her back end. Even without that, the front legs compensate for the back and start having to bear more weight than is optimal, leading to strain. Hope it's nothing worse than that. Gabapentin, tramadol, and Adequan is what has worked at our house. There are other meds you can add if there are no special kidney issues. Hugs to you and Tori.
  7. I remember Egon -- and you. So very sorry he had to leave. It's clear he was a well-loved boy in your family and quite a character, as well. My sincere sympathies to you and your family. Tell your little girl that this is a place where Egon was loved too, and will be remembered.
  8. My boys didn't do well on it, so I stopped giving it, with my vet's blessing.
  9. I'm so sorry she couldn't make her birthday, but at least she got to see you one last time. Run pain free, Jackie.
  10. Really wishing he were still here, Jan. I'm so sorry he had to leave the terrific life he had with you. We felt so privileged to have one of his prints from Adrienne and will always greet his spirit with love when we look at his sweet face.

    Pudge

Ducky, I'm so sorry. You really have had a hard year. I hope you're somewhat consoled by all those good, loving memories. RIP Pudge.
  12. Nothing beats a big, sociable boy! I'm so very sorry he had to leave.
  13. That was a very nice tribute. I'm so very sorry Get Em couldn't have just stayed forever.
  14. I'm so very, very sorry this happened. We lost Spencer last March under similar circumstances -- respiratory crisis after a procedure that shouldn't have ended that way. So please believe my heart is with you, and I understand the shape of your loss. I hope your boy's spirit remains with you.
  15. He was a good-looking, long-tongued character. That was a lovely tribute, and I'm very sorry for your loss.
  16. What a lovely and special girl. Condolences to all who loved her.
  17. Thanks very much, Chris. We know Shane has anxiety (since Spencer has been gone) and we know he has pain from LSS and whatever else. He's on gabapentin and methocarbamol for the latter, and we're supposed to give him Benedryl for the former. Xanax just seemed to make him worse, so we didn't stay with that more than one day. DH and I are taking turns sleeping on the couch, to administer Benedryl if needed. Doesn't sound like a good long-term plan to me.
