  1. Welcome back! Will you be coming to Gettysburg, since you're so close?!?! it's in 3 weeks!! (GIG)
  2. Cody was a therapy dog. She tolerated going to nursing homes & assisted living places (mainly where my dad was, and one other). She would let people pet her then, after about 20 minutes, would flop in the middle of the floor and stay there till it was time to go! There were cockers who came on a different day than us and people always wanted her to chase a ball... yeah, RIGHT!! But the residents all loved her!
  3. Hugs... I remember both Scully & Mulder. And Cody has been gone 9 years now...
  4. I so very sorry, Steve... she's back with Katie now...
  5. I'm so sorry, Chris - Sequoia will always be a GT favorite... Hugs
  6. Sasha was a doll - I loved sinking my hands into that thick samoyed fur! I'm sorry Robin... please tell your mom I'm sending hugs...
  7. just be aware - if you use pepto (and this goes for people & dogs, I think) and THEN you vomit, it'll turn your tongue black!! Something with the bismuth... happened to me & I went to the emergency room (had just gotten back from central America & was sure I had some horrible tropical disease!)
  8. Welcome to GT!! He's one gorgeous boy!!! Congratulations to him & you... Though I live across the pond, I was in Leicester once - for a concert at The Musician. I got us lost getting in AND out! Kept driving in a circle, passing the same buildings...
  9. I won a free year's subscription at GIG & it's been great!! (And I pass it on to friends when I've read it!)
  10. I am SOOOOO glad I got to hang out with her at GIG... Today is nine years that Cody has been gone.... Too soon for ALL of them.
  11. Nine years ago this morning, I had to let Cody go. She was 12 & 1/2... I still miss her. I'll post some pix if there are any in my gallery here... (Don't know how to toggle between 2 websites on my new laptop!!) Hugs, Cody girl! Hope you're showing all the new rainbow-greys the ropes up there...
  12. Yeah, I've heard that about traveller dogs too. I have a friend with a traveller's dog from Ireland... a lurcher: grey/collie cross - she's a great dog with a great name! Puddin'
  13. Here's what I'd try first... use the powder IN your central vac collection bin (or whatever it is!) If you're vacuuming them up, they may be in there... I would NOT use any powder that's not safe for pets anywhere else in your house!!!!! I don't know much about brown dog ticks (we don't have many here) but I don't THINK they transmit any diseases (will go online & check it out). If that's the case, then they're just gross & don't cause a health threat. If you call an exterminator, make ABSOLUTELY sure what they're planning on using/doing before hiring them. And get good recommendations from people you KNOW... good luck! (Off to look up brown dog tick...) http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/urban/medical/brown_dog_tick.htm Oops... they can transmit erlichiosis & babesia... but they'd have to have an infected host to pick either up...
  14. Happy Birthday, boys!! (I too love their names, especially Cattywhumpus!!)
  15. Of course, her foot was FINE to run around the yard again!!!! (Faker!)
  16. I was a first-time dog owner when I got Cody and she was a 'difficult' dog... separation anxiety, wanted to eat my cat, etc. My group wouldn't take her back!! (And of course I'd bonded with her anyway) So people of GT, don't assume that all groups are great & work with you - this same group refused to take a friend's grey back - told them she'd have to put the dog down if they returned him!! Eventually, after trying everything, as a last resort, they did return him & she found him a great home with someone home all day. So... 1 & 1/2 years of torment for them AND the dog because of the group owner.... Hope training goes well tonight!! Sometimes, something just clicks in their grey-brains & they realize they're home & can trust.... Hugs!
  17. Yeah, me too, MP! I get to visit Jas every few months, AND it's put me back in touch with some very good friends (lost touch when they had kids, now kids are college & HS age) So it's been great visiting with not only Jas, but with ME & Mark too!!
  18. I talked to Jasmine's "new" mom this morning - it's one year today since I took her to ME's house to live. She's finally friends with their other cat - ME sent me a pic of the 2 of them all curled up together. I still miss my silly, loud, bratty girl immensely but she has the BESTEST home ever... Miss you, Jas sweetie...
  19. Yep - more from me too... hugs...
  20. What, are you KIDDING? We REQUIRE lots of pix here!!! And welcome to the cult... um, I mean GreyTalk!!
  21. Steve, I know I posted on your facebook post, but I am so very sorry Katie couldn't stay with you longer... She fought a valiant fight Hugs to you & Gayle... (you'll get a personal hug at Dewey...)
