  1. Hugs to you - and run free, Dylan The mantra on here is "better a day too soon than a day too late..." Sounds like Dylan was telling you it was time
  2. Hey Darlene!! Guess we can't get together now!! Will you be going to Kanab? (Do they still have it?)
  3. hahahahaha!!! SOOOOO true!! (I've slept with Iker...)
  4. I'm so sorry, Judy... We'll all remember Dammit Arrow for a long time here on GT...
  5. Another Marylander welcome here! Penny is gorgeous! Welcome to the cult um.. I mean...world (!!) of greyhounds!!! There are several Baltimore types here with greys...
  6. I was thinking the same thing... greyhound would be workable but galgo might be a perfect fit! Iker!!! hahahaha :beatheart
  7. Also post this in Everything Else Greyhound!! More people are likely to see it there...
  8. I remember like it was yesterday... Hugs, Robbie....
  9. Rest well, Shawn - we'll miss you on GreyTalk...
  10. Awww... I'm so sorry your ratlet had to leave you, but he had a great long life!! I too raised a male ratlet from a pup (actually, I had his mom so he was handled before he even had any fur!) - Simon. I loved Simon dearly and he's buried in my backyard (he was the very best of all the rats I've had). I cried like a baby at the vet's when he left me so I understand... Hugs...

    Donovan

Oh, Chris, I'm so very sorry... Donovan was a great dog!! Hugs to you...
  12. Deanna & Brian, I'm so very sorry... I loved Wrennie - she was such a sweet sweet dog. And I loved seeing all the pictures - I remember all your hounds. Many hugs to you...
  13. Just seeing this. For next time, if you have any ammonia in the house, dab some straight on the sting site - neutralizes the venom almost instantaneously!!! But DON'T let him lick it - wash it off after about 5 minutes...
  14. Doesn't matter if you get the mouthparts or not... I never worry about it - they'lll eventually work their way out & it's much more important to get the tick off. And DON'T SQUEEZE IT!!! Who said that adult male ticks don't feed?? They DO! They can transmit lyme as well.
  15. Lee Livingood (who wrote the Greyhounds for Dummies book) gave a really good way to tell what a good weight for your grey is. Make a fist and run your fingers over your knuckles - that's too skinny for a grey's ribs Now run your fingers over the back of your hand - that's too 'fat' for a grey's ribs Now run your fingers over your fisted fingers - THAT'S what you should feel of a grey's ribs. I really liked this analogy!!
  16. Congrats! Now we need pix of your other three!
  17. My dad was in an assisted living place & I wanted to take her to visit him so I joined Pets on Wheels here in MD. Had to take her to their recommended vet for a check-up and they did an evaluation (to make sure she wouldn't spook at wheelchairs, walkers, etc) and that was it!
  18. When my brother first saw Cody he said "I thought you were getting a THREE dimensional dog!!"
  19. Hugs to you... 7 is way too young...
  20. Welcome to the wonderful cult ... um... world that is greyhounds!! My Cody was afraid of balloons & trash bags too! She was a therapy dog at nursing homes & I always knew when there was a balloon in the room - she's come backing out FAST!! Uh-oh... balloon monster in that room!! Hate to say it, but she never got over that one!!
  21. Welcome!! I'm also across the Potomac, in New Carrollton. I used to volunteer with GW - don't know any of their current volunteers but I think it's still a great group!!
  22. I was a 'cat person' till I got my grey! (I actually liked dogs, just not in-your-face dogs...) Greys are probably the most cat-like of dogs, but they are still dogs. But much more independent than a lot of breeds... And, yes, they are VERY addictive!!!
