LorcanGreyhoun
Hello everyone! I adopted my first greyhound 3 weeks ago. He is 83 cm or 32.6 inches tall. According to Google and other sources, greyhounds are usually 71-76 cm or 27-30 inches tall. Is this normal?

Potomacpupsmom
Yes, it is normal. Just like in humans, greyhound heights (and weights) vary. The other sources are using an average, some are smaller and some are bigger than the average. oldrunners
I have a 60# boy sleeping on my recliner at the moment. I have two bridge boys who were 94# and 90#, Jack was quite tall, Beggar was not quite as tall, but very long.
greysmom
We just lost our GIRL who was 32 inches at the shoulder. She was as tall as our smallest Great Dane (the breed we had before greyhounds). EllenEveBaz
My Baz was 31 7/8 at the shoulder (that 7/8 was very important to him ). But he was never even the tallest hound on GreyTalk. If your hound raced, you might enjoy getting on greyhound-data and tracing his pedigree with his racing name in "dog search." The dogs don't have their height listed, but do have their racing weights. That would give you an idea of the heights of his ancestors. What struck me more than Baz's height was how looonnngggg he was. When he walked by you, it was like having a battleship pass. I measured his tracks when he was running in a ball field, and he was in the air 9 feet between strides. It literally was breathtaking to see him run. Bill419
I had one that was 32 inches and one that was 33 inches at the shoulder. That is tall but not abnormal.
