scullysmum
Back in the dim distant past when I was a regular participant of this group there was a lovely story about a greyhound who reached the grand old age of twenty 😳does anyone remember what her name was? btw. Houndtime
Susie or Suzie. She was lead around in a wagon and made appearances like a celebrity. Dick and Nancy Waddell were the owners. I hope I got everyone's name correctly. MP_the4pack
Genie was the other one. She lived in Florida. Both Suzie Q and Genie made it to 20 years and 2 months. Genie actually had a limo ride to her 20th bd party and she made the news.

Hello Bill, Coming to you from Ballarat, Victoria, Australia! We have a 9 yo boy, Dougie and would love it if he lived to 20, just like Susie. I wonder if you, or anyone else on this forum could find out what such long lived dog owners did (specifically) to get their fur babies to reach such an “old age”? Activity? Food? Social activities? We recently heard of Bobi in Portugal living to over 30 (although that seems to be under discussion). Is it possible to find out more about the lives and daily living protocols of these older greys? Many thanks 🙏 Cindy and Dougie
Jerilyn
A 20 year old greyhound really is an outlier. I suspect it’s genetics more than anything. Good routine care helps, but it doesn’t guarantee anything. I do also think about quality of life at that point too. I don’t know the dogs being discussed here but wonder if they really were really living their normal lives or if they were just existing due to extensive efforts by the humans. Bill419
Our Susie who we adopted 3 weeks before her 14th birthday and lived past 15 ran around the backyard until the last week of 2. Diandra who lived until 14 years 8 months ran around the living room at every mealtime. We called it her happy dance.
