Riverhound
Joe was playing with a toy, and the noises went from squeak, squeak, squeak to crunch, squeak, crunch REAL QUICK. I stuffed my hand in his mouth, but nothing was in there. He tore a toy (quietly, damn him!) and I can't find the squeaker on the floor. Just gave him bread. What next? mychip1
As long as it was a soft plastic he should be OK....I would watch him for 24-48 hours...if he vomits (other than vomiting up the darn thing) or had changes in his poo patterns, I would call the vet..... By the way....JJ has eaten a few remote controls....so you may have musical farts and I am convinced that if my hound burps, the channel on the TV might change! tbhounds
You it will make you feel better you can induce vomiting. A couple of tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide should do the trick! Sorry I should have been more accurate-- it's 5mls (one teaspoon) per 10lbs body weight. Good luck! Riverhound
I found the bulb-y part of the squeaker, so it's just the plug part that's missing now. And Joe's daddy is giving him a foot massage, so he's happy with the trouble he caused! I'll be watching the Joe's output for a couple days, but I think he's fine, and I freaked out for no good reason. BatterseaBrindl
Well, if it's just the little end piece, he'll be fine. Ruby has chewed up a couple of small plastic toys of the grandkids and she seems to barf the pieces up within a few hours. We've had other dogs (non-greys) chew plastic will no ill effects. MP_the4pack
I didn't want to post and scare you, but now that you found it. Plastic in a dog's tummy gets very brittle after a while from the acid. That can eventually cause problems. So if anyone's dog does swallow something plastic, it would probably be best to try to get them to vomit it up, because it doesn't always make it thru the system (depending on size of course) The little stopper that's still missing is ok. That should make it all the way thru.

krissy
My last surgery patient was a pug who ate a squeaker. A week later he finally came in because he was just about on death's door (owners didn't know he'd eaten the squeaker... though he had a history of indiscretions). That squeaker was lodged and was not going anywhere. Thankfully greyhounds are bigger so it will hopefully pass right through. But if he starts to not be right I wouldn't try to wait it out. Fingers crossed for the best!
