Musical farts??

:rofl

I'm sympathetic, really I am...but the responses made me burst out laughing.

As long as it was a soft plastic he should be OK....I would watch him for 24-48 hours...if he vomits (other than vomiting up the darn thing) or had changes in his poo patterns, I would call the vet.....

By the way....JJ has eaten a few remote controls....so you may have musical farts and I am convinced that if my hound burps, the channel on the TV might change!

Ok. I'll try not to freak out. Thank you all!

I would just keep a careful eye.....like I said, vomiting or any indication of pain...I would head to the e-vet....otherwise, just watch and wait.....

Good luck and keep us posted.

You it will make you feel better you can induce vomiting. A couple of tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide should do the trick!

Sorry I should have been more accurate-- it's 5mls (one teaspoon) per 10lbs body weight. Good luck!

See - if you had given him some treats the poor boy wouldn't have to eat squeakers.....:lol

Feel better Joe.

I wouldn't sweat it unless he seems to have problems. We heard that same crunch, crunch, crunch when Rocket got his first (and only) Screaming Monkey.

IF you do that, just be sure it's the dental grade peroxide...not the kind in the dark brown bottle....

The dog gets plenty of treats. I think he was bored and wanted to watch Mommy spin around in circles and flap her hands. He's all comfy on the sofa now!

The 3% (yup it's in a brown bottle) is ok to use just make sure you don't use the kind one would use to lighten your hair!

I found the bulb-y part of the squeaker, so it's just the plug part that's missing now. And Joe's daddy is giving him a foot massage, so he's happy with the trouble he caused! I'll be watching the Joe's output for a couple days, but I think he's fine, and I freaked out for no good reason. (Shocking, right? :lol)

THat's good to know...I thought that it could only be the mild dental grade...

Not sure this guy needs it, anyway, but I did have to induce once before for hair scrunchies that had been scoffed down!

Well, if it's just the little end piece, he'll be fine.

Ruby has chewed up a couple of small plastic toys of the grandkids and she seems to barf the pieces up within a few hours.

We've had other dogs (non-greys) chew plastic will no ill effects.

I didn't want to post and scare you, but now that you found it.

Plastic in a dog's tummy gets very brittle after a while from the acid. That can eventually cause problems.

So if anyone's dog does swallow something plastic, it would probably be best to try to get them to vomit it up, because it doesn't always make it thru the system (depending on size of course)

The little stopper that's still missing is ok. That should make it all the way thru.

Usually 16-48 but things can hang out inside for months. I'd expect something like that to pass pretty quickly tho.

My last surgery patient was a pug who ate a squeaker. A week later he finally came in because he was just about on death's door (owners didn't know he'd eaten the squeaker... though he had a history of indiscretions). That squeaker was lodged and was not going anywhere.

Thankfully greyhounds are bigger so it will hopefully pass right through. But if he starts to not be right I wouldn't try to wait it out.

Fingers crossed for the best!
