Guest Jonesy08054 Posted July 8, 2011 Share Posted July 8, 2011 I've been on here for about a month now, and I finally got my dog!!!! Meet Jasper (formerly YooHoo). I adopted him from Greyhound Friends for Life in Auburn, California. If you've seen my other posts, this has been an ordeal for me getting a dog. (I had a deposit on an Italian Greyhound pup that was coming from a puppy mill, turned that off, and decided to go with a full sized greyhound). I went to my local rescue group, and worked out a greyt adoption for this sweet heart. He's three years old, cam from a track in Arizona, and such a mellow dude. When I arrived at the rescue kennel, I had a choice of three different dogs. This guy was about 10 lbs underweight, needs a special diet for the next week or so, but he just spoke to me. Our "get to know you" walk around the premises basically told me that he was the dog for me. Our 40 min car ride back was very uneventful. He laid down in the back of my Subaru Forester and didn't try to jump over the seats at all. As soon as I got him home, I walked him in the front grass of my condo, and he marked accordingly. Within 1o minutes of walking in my house, he curled up next to his crate and slept. He ate a full dinner around 6:00pm, and did his business out front around 6:40. For the next couple of hours, he laid down on my laminate wood flooring right next to his $50 bed in my living room, and just when I decided that i should take the bed back to PetsMart the next day, he curled up on it and fell asleep (I now HAVE to keep it!). We had one last potty break at 9:30, and he is currently curled up in his dog bed next to my bed waiting for me to go to sleep. Being a first time dog owner, I could not have asked for a better first day! I am looking forward to the next few weeks, months and years. Just had to brag about my new guy and what a joy he is.
