rycezmom
I'm so glad that T is on the mend. That must have been very scary for both of you as well as T. A kiss on the nose for T and something treatish to make him feel better. We are blessed down here with "Venom 1" with Miami Dade Fire/Rescue. They hoof it all over the southeast it seems. Nice info on the site http://www.miamidade.gov/mdfr/emergency_special_venom.asp How to get antivenom/venomousreptiles.org http://www.venomousreptiles.org/pages/antbnk Some reasonably good info, not that Jeff isn't a master of roaming the computer http://www.envenomated.com/articles.php?article_id=24 Edited June 25, 2011 by rycezmom Quote The more I see of man, the more I like dogs. ~Mme. de Staël Missing my Bridge Angels Ryce, Bo, Jim, Miss Millie, Miss Rose, Gustopher P Jones (Pimpmaster G), Miss Isabella and Miss Star

Rickiesmom
Just seeing this now - glad T is OK. We only have one venemous snake in this area - the Mississauga rattler, and they aren't all that common, thankfully!

Trudy
Mr Elephant Leg has pretty much gone back to normal today. I'm thinking by tomorrow, his leg should be back to it's normal size. Last night at bedtime, it was still Elephant leg like.
Guest Energy11
Hey Jeff... So sorry to hear about T! That is wicked, and I am glad he is on the mend. Haven't been on here much lately. Father in NY State is in and out of rehab, and the phone rings constantly. It is a mess... Anyway, there IS a rattlesnake vaccine http://www.redrockbiologics.com/FAQ.html#2 My Vet in Florida gives it all the time. It is safe for sighthounds, and all other breeds. It lessons the effects of snakebites, and helps protect against all types of rattlers and the Copperhead. It is NOT effective against Coral snakes and Cottonmouths. It really helps, and yes, you still should vet the dog, but it makes the bite much, much less severe for he dog. Hopefully, your vet can orde some and you can give it to all your pooches. It is pretty inexpensive too. Good Luck and give T a big hug for us! Dee and The Five

Jeff
yeah, we asked our vet about the vaccine, she had never heard of it. We may have her (or someone else) research it and give to to T and A (Just realized Tavarish and Abby are T&A )
