Maddiesmom Posted June 24, 2011 Share Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Maddie was scheduled to go in to the vet today for a dental cleaning with the vet and a cyst removal, we were going to do a dental cleaning while she was "awake" but under local and same with the cyst However, I just got a call from the vet and Maddie will have to lose a tooth so she will go under. I am a nervous wreck. I could care less about the increase in price as this is my little girl that we are talking about but the thought of Maddie going under scares me as she is the first dental she has to go under for. So please think good thoughts for my girl. She is scheduled for 12 today but they may get to her earlier. My Ruby lost 4 teeth during her last dental in April (one was a molar) and she did fine. sabrina Posted June 24, 2011 Share Posted June 24, 2011 Maddie I hope all goes well for your dental procedure. Mom dont worry Sabrina had 11 teeth pulled on 4/5/11. She now has no top or bottom teeth on both sides in the back. She did fine. I asked Dr Orsini when I picked her up that evening when can she eat. He said tonight just make her kibble soggy & I did & didnt she eat it all. No bleeding & that night she was slightly swollen but that was gone in 2 days.. She was on Rimadyl for 4 days & antibiotics for 8. She healed fine. On the upside I only have front teeth to brush each night. She is 9 & will be 10 on Aug 6th. Being a diabetic dog made me more nervous but the vet was very careful. Lots of good wishes for both of you, I'm sure Maddie will do just fine. Maddiesmom Posted June 24, 2011 Author Share Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Maddie update- I just got off the phone with Dr Smithson (I love her - she is awesome) she stated that Maddie is awake and she did greyt! Just the 1 extraction and that her lower teeth are worn down (but I already knew that as Maddie chewed on the bars of her crate from her SA) her teeth cleaned up greyt and I am sure that my girl is starving. Her cyst is not going off to be tested as it had hair going out of it and Dr Smithson stated that she saw no reason to send it off. We had it fine needle aspirated once already. Thanks for al the good thoughts for Maddie. I will pick her up around 430 on my way home from work. She is sporting a lovely "Ask me about greyhound adoption" t shirt so she does not irriate her stitches. I slept on the couch downstairs with her lastnight to make sure I was there if she had to go out. Tonight she can go back to doing the stairs.
