I bind up any evil that would operate against the lovely Brandy in Jesus name and demand that it flee. I loose healing and health over her and release God's healing hand over her to bless and heal every cell in her sweet precious body in Jesus namehope.gif . Prayers ongoing in KY.

She is worse than when we took her in. I was hopeful when I heard that she was alert at the clinic, but she just isn't the same dog and I dont know what on Earth has happened. When the vet brought her out, she just walked right past me, as if she couldn't see or hear me. When she got home she didn't seem to know where she was. I tried to help her into the sofa so she could sleep, but once laying down she cried loudly, her mouth hung open, and she occassionally pawed at her right eye. After about ten minutes she got up and ran around the house, as if she didn't know her surroundings, panting and almost bumping into things. Her vision seems very limited. She went into a different room and urinated in the corner, walked over to the door, looked outside and seemed very confused. Then she came back into the living room and threw half of her body on the floor, rubbing her eye.

I really don't know what to do.. we tried to call back the emergency vet but they're not answering for some reason.

The vet said she'd take a while to come through from her ER experience but this is just crazy. She is so out of it.

I don't know what to do.

She seems to be fast asleep now.

I am sorry that she seems worse. Could you take her back to the vet to get x-rays done? The rubbing of the eye and vision problems/being disoriented would concern me, but I am not an expert.

Sending you and Brandy positive thoughts, white light and hugs!

Just seeing this now.

First of all, I am VERY sorry you two are going through this.

It does sound like she has limited vision, or maybe has become blind (*hopefully temporarily). What you are describing sound like a stroke to me. The wobbliness, disorientation, bumping into things, and the urination in the corner, crying out, etc. This ALMOST sounds like what happened to My Curfew in Sept. 2008. It took him two days to come home, and he didn't fully recover for almost a week. VERY wobbly legs, etc. ... he is now fine, but has occassional "episodes," the vet cannot explain. I think they are mini-strokes.

Anyway, you could definiately be looking at a stroke situation with Brandy. Yes, the severe dehydration could have caused many of the symptoms, but not all. The ONLY way to diagnose a stroke is an MRI, which are extremely expensive. I'd see your regular vet, and go from there. I give Curfew, PER DR. COUTO, 1/2 of an 81 mg low dose aspirin a day, to keep his blood thin, BUT you dont' want to do this without consulting your vet, because two things cause strokes ... a bleed or a clot.

Hope this helps a little, and I hope Brandy improves soon! Sending BUCKETS of love, many hugs and tons of Prayers! Dee and The Five

:( Poor girl. I hope that she is feeling better when she gets up.

Do you happen to have a vet school with a clinic near you? The one time one of my dogs needed very urgent and sophisticated care I took her to my local vet school clinic with good results.

Sending tons of good wishes for Brandy your way!

Oh no... I'm so sorry to hear this. If it were me, I'd see my regular vet ASAP and ask for a specialist referral. It sounds as if something major is going on, and since it was sudden, I'd want to know what. Sometimes the quicker we get the dx the better the prognosis is.

Pawing at her eye is disturbing. Could be pain, could be discomfort, could be sudden vision loss, or a bleed at the back of the eye, but usually pawing means pain or irritation in my experience. Have you looked in her mouth? Did the vet look thoroughly inside her mouth, cheeks, roof of mouth, under tongue etc? Does she have something caught in there? I know it's a 'too-simple' thought, but worth a look at least. A dog was once brought in to the vet where I worked with a deep electrical burn right across the roof of his mouth where he'd bitten through a live wire. Distraction and panting and random running about were some of the symptoms. Sometimes if something is painful enough they can show 'panic' signs which are a little misleading, though certainly a stroke would fit, too. :(

Sending my best good vibes and I hope to hear better news next time I check in. Hang in there! :goodluck

I don't have any advice for you, hon, but do follow up on bigbrindlebunny's suggestion that you find your local greyhound friends and lean on them. Your vet will also be your guide.

Best wishes to your gyrl, I hope she is feeling much better very soon.

hugs,

~Pat

Our regular vet agreed to see her at 2:20pm.

I'm not sure how we're going to load her into the truck.. she can barely walk.

Seeing her like this is so heartbreaking. Just 30 hours ago she was fine.

What are her latest symptoms? PM me if you want.

I KNOW how heartbreaking this must be. As I mentioned, with Curfew, we went through something simliar. DH had to carry him (*he was limp at the time) to the van. We actually went out and bought a stretcher and built a handicapped ramp, in case one of them gets like this again.

If she can't walk, you and DH can take a heavy comforter, lie her in the middle, and each one take a side, and carry her out that way.

Sending lots of positive thoughts and many prayers! Dee

Only reading this now....your poor baby.

Hope you get to the bottom of why she's in distress......it does sound like a mini stroke though affecting her eyesight. And as with all strokes the faster you act the better the recovery. Sending well wishes...

Run free our beloved Sir Snowy, Pip, Queenie, Sadie, Tess & Rosie until we meet again......I would rather feel the thorn than to never see the rose

Thank you for all the wishes of luck... she has not stopped crying and it's so distressing. I'm not sure how we're going to last until 2:20pm. DH thinks she looks a bit more responsive in her face (looking at you, etc) but I'm not seeing it. She hasn't really slept - she just won't stop crying aloud, but seems to stop when petted/touched. I tried to give her one of her favourite treats.. a chicken strip, and she tried to take it and her ears went up but she gave up before even chewing, like she couldn't work out how or she was too weak to. Like I said.. she's just a totally different dog to her usual self and not knowing what's up or if she'll get better is unbearable. I haven't slept or eaten for such a long time and I'm scared my stress may affect her recovery.

For anybody local - we're in the Carroll county area.
