Bill419 Posted July 9, 2008 Share Posted July 9, 2008 (edited) Ladybug's auto-immune system shut down 3 1/2 weeks ago. We've been keeping her going with meds and blood transfusions because her red blood cell count has been extremely low. Yesterday Ladybug's front leg started to swell even though she is already on an antibiotic. The pain finally got too much for her to walk. I gave her pain meds but she is just lying in one spot and will not move because of the pain. This is on top of possibly needing another blood transfusion. Because this would be her 4th transfusion in 3 1/2 weeks the odds are not good that she would survive it. We decided that it was time to let her go. She is resting comfortably but we can't move her without causing too much pain so the vet is coming to our house this evening to put her to sleep. Ladybug just turned 3 years old in May. You have tried many procedures to help her get better. She knows she is well loved. My prayers are with you and Irene and sweet Ladybug. May her passing be peaceful and pain free. I will always remember how she was able to calm Emmy down at Dr. B's office when she was there. Ladybug is too weak to be sadated for that and it is too painful without sadation. The 3 things it could be are all treated the same way so the biopsy really isn't that important to the treatment. One of the 3 isn't curable so we didn't want to know as long as she was happy and painfree.
