The point of having a dog as a companion and not just something that lives in your house, IS to figure out what works for the dog. If you don't want to do that then maybe it's time to find him a home with people who will.
Sweetie was one very lucky pup to have you for his Mom and Dad. The depth of the love you had for him shines through in every word you've written. I hope when the time is right you will share all that love and carry on Sweetie's legacy by giving another greyhound a wonderful home.
Godspeed Sweetie...run free with the wind at the Bridge.
What a wonderful tribute to a beautiful girl. I'm so very sorry for this tragic, senseless loss of your girl.
Godspeed Nina, may you run free with the wind at the Bridge
When we got our first greyhound we gave her a bath shortly after she arrived. Her nice "thick" black fur began to fall out by the handsfull!! We thought we'd done something awful and even took her to the vet's only to find out she was just shedding her farm coat
Her coat will come back in nice and shiny!!
I have sent all of my greyhounds to the Bridge from home. Aggie just left me in March at age 15. I had a friend come over and give her a nice massage and then she quietly went to the Bridge on her bed in the front window where she always laid. All of the other dogs have had free run of the house immediately after the event and none of them wanted to come near her. My remaining 4 were all off for a little while afterwards as far as eating goes and they were a little restless but that all went away after a few days.
I hope that I can send all my kids to the Bridge from home sine it's such a peaceful way for them to go.
I swear the older they are the tougher they are! I'm so glad to hear that Ruby's improving so much. When my Agatha wasn't eating really well, I got some canned Tripe and that perked up everyone's appetite. Maybe it would do the same for Ruby.
