DaisyDoodle
Just a quick update: Bodie ate boiled chicken, but turned up his nose at white rice and a little kibble this morning at breakfast. At noon, I dashed home from work and he had a hard boiled egg, more chicken, and a little kibble with chicken broth on it. I really would like to get some rice down him, so I'll make some fresh this evening when I get home from work. Maybe that will appeal to him. He is generally not a picky eater. He still has runny diarrhea, however, which conerns me. He is taking two doses a day of a diarrhea drug that begins with M (it's at home) and Immodium AD - both provided by OSU. I can't believe that isn't drying him up. He is still drinking, so I don't think dehydration will be a problem. He is looking and acting perkier today now that he is off the tramadol, but he still prefers to just sleep. I have to rouse him for trips to the yard. He did get up on his own to eat, however - a good sign. I'm glad he's eating. I don't know how well or quickly the diarrhea meds should work, but I know our Cosmo had several bouts of the Big D/loose stools from all the different foods we gave her in our numerous attempts to get her to eat. That may be what's happening to Bodie. I'll bet that ride was really tiring for him too. I'll bet he's just trying to catch up on his beauty sleep after being in a different place and having a big ride home. Hope he's back to himself really soon, DD Quote DonnaMolly the Border Collie & Poquita the American-born Podenga Bridge Babies: Daisy (Positive Delta) 8/7/2000 - 4/6/2115, Agnes--angel Sage's baby (Regall Rosario) 11/12/01 - 12/18/13, Lucky the mix (Found, w 10 puppies 8/96-Bridge 7/28/11, app. age 16) & CoCo (Cosmo Comet) 12/28/89-5/4/

Batmom
Ask your docs about Endosorb. You've probably got metronidazole along with the Immodium. Both are useful, but neither one does what Endosorb does: soaks up the extra water and actually firms up the stool. Hugs. krissn333
The M-drug is likely Metronidazole, also known as Flagyl. That, coupled with the Immodium should help him. Sometimes it takes a day or two though. I hope he's feeling better soon...someone mentioned the Metamucil wafers...might be worth a try? Guest Bodie
Try making the rice using chicken broth--you'll get him to eat the rice and it'll taste like chicken to him. A win-win situation! This worked like a charm! I cooked a new batch of rice in chicken broth and he gobbled it down for dinner along with a half cup of kibble and a cup of boiled chicken. He hasn't had a bout of diarrhea since noon and he's looking even better tonight! I think he's rallying!

Fiona3
I'm so glad to see this steady improvement. Bodie sounds like he is definitely on the mend. When Hobbes had bouts of diarrhea it usually took 4-5 days to get it under control in spite of medication and diet. All our efforts helped but it seemed to take him that long to "normalize". Keep up the good work Bodie! Guest snowberry
Glad he's improving! White rice, and the starchy water that comes off when you boil it, is a great invention! Now he knows he's home again, I'm sure he'll be better.
Guest Bodie
I am very happy to report that Bodie ate very well today - 2 smaller meals, one at breakfast and one at lunch - and a full dinner of a cup of kibble, a cup of rice and a cup of chicken. It took him about 30 seconds to devour it - that's my boy! His appetite has returned! Also, his diarrhea is subsiding - it's now mushy poop, so he's starting to improve at that end, also. He has also been more awake and alert today. I think we can safely say he is on the mend!
