My best wishes for Alan's recovery. My Erin had a similar episode - running in the backyard, piercing scream and she went down. She could not put weight on both hind legs. The vet could not give a definitive diagnosis so we managed with anti-inflammatory meds. She recovered after about a week. I pray for a similar outcome for your boy.

OH NO! :cry1 Sending tons of prayers for Alan and lots of hugs for you and Brian :grouphug

Last fall Boss had a bulged disc and discospondylitis (sp?) he spent 1 1/2 weeks at the vet, he couldn't use his back legs. I thoroughly believe acupuncture is what turned him around.

Sorry to hear about poor Alan. I've had 2 spine surgeries in the last 10 years and you really can't tell about neurological injuries long term. You have to give it time and hope. Often patients (people and dogs) get well or at least improve enough to make life worth living. Sometimes this happens with surgery and other times with less invasive treatment, medication, moist heat, hydrotherapy. Lets hope for the best. A few prayers will help as well. ---Sam--
