  1. Sometime this morning Maz, age 3.5, hurt herself. We don't know how. She will barely put pressure on her right rear foot. I've tried to video it so you can see her walk. I touched her all over, especially from the right hip to her toes. There were no sensitive areas. The scar on her knee is an old injury from prior to us adopting her. She's never had any problems with it. http://vid2.photobucket.com/albums/y21/duckomac/mazy/014_zpsbjx2v62l.mp4 This one is turned the wrong way. http://vid2.photobucket.com/albums/y21/duckomac/mazy/012_zpsm0r5e4iz.mp4 She'd just had her dinner before filming. She went out to potty and now just wants to lay down. She must be hurting because normally we have to restrain her from running zoomies after dinner. If this continues I'll take her to the vet first thing in the morning as an unscheduled walk limp in patient. Can you see any indication of what is hurting her?
  2. We covered angel Harold's bed with a washable bed pad. If the turd fairy came during the night the clean up was easy.
  3. Saying goodbye to the beautiful greyhounds and their friends who left us in December 2014. As you run with the wind send a caress to wipe our tears. Gone but never forgotten. Loved forever. Run free with those who have gone before you. Greet all those that will follow. In our heart, though, they'll be bright and clear, as they always were.
  4. You have a good point, Susan. I feel like Charlie would eat until he pops. Between 1pm and 3pm today he had at least 8 of the small raw carrots (about 2" long). Mikey and Mazy got cookies. Charlie got carrots. By the 9th carrot he figured out what we were doing and he refused the 9th carrot. He ate his dinner at 4pm just fine.
  5. I have no experience with clotting questions. However I'd lean toward using Amicar. With an amp it's the leg that bleeds. But with a dental it's the mouth that's bleeding. If there was a clotting problem I wouldn't want the airway compromised by excess blood.
  6. At this age I do a senior panel that includes the CBC, chem panel, fecal. Add urinalysis if it's been a while since that was done. Better to catch kidney problems early. Fingers crossed for an uneventful visit.
  7. My new 12 year old boy Mikey ( Doray's Patuti ) didn't race, nor did most of his littermates. When does a trainer decide a dog has no interest or focus in racing?
  8. Still hoping to hear more experiences to help this owner....
  9. How much can you rehydrate at a time? Can you do a few days worth or must it be right before serving time? How many minutes does it take to rehydrate the carrots?
  10. Feisty49, he'll give us "that look" all day long. I don't cave in though. When we eat, he begs. Doesn't get anything from me but DH will give him a wee bit. The only cookies he gets are the mini Milkbones that are about an inch long. I've already determined that DH is a big part of the problem. I may try sireltonsmom suggestion about the baby carrots.
  11. My italian greyhound, Charlie, is constantly hungry. And overweight. He was a normal weight when he came to us earlier this year. Exercise is limited to running in the backyard and playing in the house. Too many loose dogs out to walk in our neighborhood. Compounding the problem, he wants to eat Mazy's poop. To combat that most times we scoop immediately. I added a Forbid-like product and that appears to be helping. We also took him off the kibble he had originally been on. Now he eats what Mazy eats and he has no desire to eat his own poop. We reduced the amount of kibble he gets and added a lot of green beans. I limit cookies. DH does not. He had a complete thyroid panel done. Normal. He had a fecal. Normal. What else could we give him to make him feel full but not add lots of calories?
  12. The dog is 6. His pink nose was the reason for the lupus diagnosis. He'd been in a home for over a year (maybe longer). Upon diagnosis he began a course of treatment that includes: Niacinamide Cod liver oil and "some other pill". Peeling nose has never improved. Earlier this year his personality changed and he started snapping at his owners. Bit the wife on the face. A vet exam was done and he was seen by a behaviorist who said to stop the meds. Snapping continued and husband was bit. He was put back on his meds. He does have sleep/space aggression. These were very experienced owners and did everything right. I don't know the full medical background and what tests were run. What could contribute to the new aggression? My guesses would be: - unknown pain - thyroid issue - something with the lupus - brain tumor Have any suggestions to help this dog?
  13. Ditto on avoiding the jerk treats due to country of origin production issues. Most kennel dogs get a mix of donated brands kibble. Add to that the stress of transitioning to a new home so you'll want to keep food and treats simple for awhile to avoid poop issues.
  14. It's never too late to add to the list. I know too well how hard it is to lose many in a short period of time.
  15. I have added Mohican's name to the list of September Bridge Angels.
  16. A more expensive solution but easier on Doug's back. Lydia could straddle his lap. http://www.universal-accessibility.com/products/ameriglide-horizon---outdoor-stair-lift.html#.VGPV3cl0ajY I think this one has a 30 ft limit.
  17. I'd rather that none of our hound friends make it to this list. But knowing there are others gives me comfort.

  19. I loved the clip clop of her Therapaws too.......
  20. NO aspirin. No anti-inflamatory without checking with your vet. I'd give him a few days without any walks other than to go potty and see if things improve.
